Re: The fifth single
Really enjoying "Beauty Lays Siege To The City", a nice track to add to the album and one of the best bonus tracks across all the single releases, "All The Young Dudes" is dire, however, the Delinquent version is pretty good. "New London Boy" is my least favourite track on the album so I can take or leave that track, I do like the Bob Harsher remix.
Surely at some point we are going to get the album tracks in extended format, maybe as a "Disco" release??

They took the best bit out!!!
what a performance tonight, should I react or turn off the light ?

The Clean air hybrid electric bus intro remains me of Sexy Northerner
Don't give me all your northern pain
Don't sell me New York in the rain

I haven't heard the tracks yet as I'm at work though I did hear the NLB remix on 6 Music.
Glad Clean Air Hybrid Electric Bus is now an official b-side and look forward to its appearance in the Lyrics section so I can deep dive into its metaphysical meaning.

Good bsides, interesting remixes... only the "normal" mix of "All the young dudes" is a flop for me... which is a shame, as that's what's likely to get the airplay... not a classic PSB cover in that form at all... any of the other versions would be better pushed to radio/public.

Oh no! I didn't even realise until I listened again that they had done that. I guess they had to cut something, but personally perhaps the introduction could have been edited a bit more instead of the rap. I reckon Neil's first vocals could have quite easily been layered over the first few bars.Steve Fett wrote: Thu 07 Nov 2024, 10:46 amNot a fan of the edit with the rap part thoughAevion93 wrote: Thu 07 Nov 2024, 9:47 am I quite like the radio edit of New London Boy, wasn't a fan of the Feel edit but this ones not bad. Was actually hoping for a new mix for the single, but ultimately I'm just grateful there even was a fifth single (genuinely thought A New Bohemia would be the last). I won't push my luck and hope for a sixth.
The Richard X edit would be perfect for radio imo. Still finding the original quite jarring unfortunately....Spittingcat wrote: Thu 07 Nov 2024, 11:18 am Good bsides, interesting remixes... only the "normal" mix of "All the young dudes" is a flop for me... which is a shame, as that's what's likely to get the airplay... not a classic PSB cover in that form at all... any of the other versions would be better pushed to radio/public.

Agreed. That's the most radio friendly version. Should be leading with that. The Richard X edit would be perfect for radio imo.
My preferred version is the Delinquent version... much more interesting. Vocal delivery more original.
Wish the original/main version had been kept for the expanded album release... so it wasn't near the radio at all.

Re: The fifth single
I suppose the most anticipated track would be Beauty Has Laid Siege To The City. Pretty Meh. Could easily have been on Nonetheless.
ATYD - It is what it is really. Throwaway cover version. The Richard X mixes are probably the best versions. The I.JORDAN mix is shocking. The Delinquent version has 'The Crying Game' vibes at the start.
NLB - Boy Harsher mix is really good and probably better than the original. Fair play to them for 'doing a PSB' and adding their own vocals. Never heard of them before but will certainly have a listen to their other stuff.
CAHEB - Easily still the best track across both packages.
Bring on the Nonetheless demos and bonus tracks. In the space of ten months from Loneliness in January to the Nonethless reissue in November there's been the album and five singles. Anyone else getting Elysium/Electric vibes? 2024 was the year of Nonetheless, an album we know they weren't initially happy with production-wise. Will 2025 see the release of a new anti-Nonetheless album? Who knows, but why would they cram everything into 2024 and bookend it with the original PSB Nonetheless demos re-issue just 7 months after the initial release? We shall see...

New London Boy - The single version is fine and the song is what is. Easy to listen, easy to forget.
Beaty has laid single slege to the city - The melody of this song could be created by a guy/girl of 8 years old. I'm not a hardcore fan.
All The Young Dudes - I like the track and I live the version of PSB. They did a good job here and I think this song is going to like a people outside the fanbase of PSB and Bowie, if they give a chance.
The remixes are quite good. Specially the one of New London Boy with the additional voice.

I really love the rap ( best moment in the album ) , It is a sacrilegious what they have done with edit version!
A really good single! Love all tracks except ATYD version ( I prefer remixes ) and Jordan remix
Waiting the video of NLB or maybe ATYD or maybe two videos

Beauty has that King of Rome kind of sound. Neilatrone, congas, chill vibes, lush pads. Liking it a lot.
Look left, then right

About the videos there is another possibility. Thematically there is a link between both songs so maybe there is only one video for both songs. The video of I Get Along had and extended version with the song E-Mail. So who knows?.
Re: The fifth single
When listening to All the young dudes, are you also tempted to go "Man you should have seen us on the way to Venus walking on the milky way..."
Or is it just me?
