Wouldn't it be great to copy Madonna's latest album, top 50 remixes of her best tracks? We'd finally get gems like Young Offender Jam & Spoon remix available on streaming services.

What would the ultimate playlist be like?

Never heard many of them though I've been a fan since the eighties, such a shame. Wonder if it'd require a lot of paper work from the record company to sort out with the royalties? Is the reason why their whole output isn't available already?

I think its great that they are not available on streaming services, it’s just a lazy effort, they pay the artists poorly, so would much prefer if they remain “ Unreleased “ or as a complete cd collection release.

What about all the gems among exclusive white label dj maxis only on vinyl and such? Some are on youtube of course, but no one's making any money from them. This concerns all artists, no one seems to be intrested in digitalizing everything out there.

I understand why they're not. Pet Shop Boys have always focused on quality control. They don't want sub-standard material to be official canon, and what's rare and exclusive is rare and exclusive because it's far from essential.

That said, there is some stuff that was only ever released on vinyl that warrants a CD/digital release, and Dog's first hypothetical CD gives you a good representative sample of it.

I disagree it's all automatically substandard, might be the other way around. I was once given a cdr by a dj with his favourite ultra exclusive Psb stuff, guys like him are sitting on a treasure of gold/goldmine of good music.

Apparently, according to the last Annually, Warners catalogue division are working on a project to release all PSB singles plus remixes and b-sides to streaming services. And it may give rise to a CD singles box set.

It’s a real shame that some of this stuff is going unheard. Vinyl, cassette, CD, digital download, streaming; the way we listen to music will continue to change. Unless Pet Shop Boys’ music is constantly re-released it will risk getting lost to history. Some of those remixes are too good to be buried. They deserve a wider audience. Presumably the elevated price of concert tickets and the larger audiences offsets much of the money lost to the rise streaming. I have physical releases and I love the convenience of streaming. I want to see the breadth of Pet Shop Boys’ catalogue represented in both.
