It's just that it seems orchestrated rather then their POV. The puppet shop boys. Or maybe it's just me, I don't know support Ukraine, I don't buy into the concept of Zelenskyys innocence nor sainthood. Flipsides of the same coin, two ignorant alpha-male killers on both sides of the fence.

Re: Chris's keyboard is at Trafalgar Sq, I think!
Neil has had an interest in Russian politics and history for decades, why would it be orchestrated?
Re: Chris's keyboard is at Trafalgar Sq, I think!
He should realize then that the power hierarcy which has been there for ages will not crumble or be strongarmed anywhere by a Ukrainan film actor turned politician. Simple as that.Vintage Youth wrote: Sun 02 Mar 2025, 5:24 pm Neil has had an interest in Russian politics and history for decades, why would it be orchestrated?

Hmm, who said these exact same words a week or so ago?markus wrote: a Ukrainan film actor turned politician.
Hint: he was in a realityshow who turned politician.
Re: Chris's keyboard is at Trafalgar Sq, I think!
I'm all for Ukraine and I support their support and involvement.
I wish they would say something, anything about the Gaza genocide, but it seems they don't have anything to say about it.
It's odd somehow they're so loud about one thing and so silent about the other. I'm not saying they HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING, but it's odd they don't (wink wink)

Power, strongarming, blah. I'm not interested in a willy waving contest, I don't have a willy and I grew up warching big strong men shooting innocent people and blowing up town centres over who owned what bit of land. What's simple is that people don't like getting invaded and tend to push back a little when it happens, even the little Ukranian grannies stockpiling petrol bombs with their weak little arms.markus wrote: Sun 02 Mar 2025, 5:55 pmHe should realize then that the power hierarcy which has been there for ages will not crumble or be strongarmed anywhere by a Ukrainan film actor turned politician. Re: Chris's keyboard is at Trafalgar Sq, I think!
Why do we feel we have an ownership or input into what performing artists think or say, though? If what they say or don't say (and it was actually spoken about at the London Q&A) is so abhorrent then there are other artists to listen to. Numan was a massive Tory. Morrissey went Full Potato to the extent that I only guilt-listen to his solo stuff when I'm drunk. We can hold our nose or walk away, but I doubt we have any influence over how they feel about various subjects because we buy their records.lalolalo wrote: Sun 02 Mar 2025, 6:25 pm I'm all for Ukraine and I support their support and involvement.

Yes. Do fullfill your civil duties as a citizen of planet tellus.

This is a Pet shop boys forum where we talk about a group that won’t ever read what we write. Being an opinion on what political views they have or the production value of a track, I don’t think any of us think they have an ownership.Vintage Youth wrote: Sun 02 Mar 2025, 6:47 pmWhy do we feel we have an ownership or input into what performing artists think or say, though? Welcome to an internet forum. Or do you think you have an ownership on their tracks just because you say you like this one or the other.
Relax man, these are just opinions.
I don’t think I have (and never intended to have) ownership about anyones thoughts.
Again, relax. This is an internet forum. And this is my opinion. And I think I was really respectful.
I just wonder why they have so strong statements about one criminal dictator like Putin (I agree with that) and not a single opinion of a group of people being exterminated off the earth by another government. And I wonder if it’s because they would get in a lot of trouble if they raise their voice on that subject. So that makes me wonder even more about their honesty.
Just a thought. No ownership.

I am relaxed (although not a man!) you were absolutely respectful, we are just discussing things, it's an interesting topiclalolalo wrote: Sun 02 Mar 2025, 9:47 pmThis is a Pet shop boys forum where we talk about a group that won’t ever read what we write. Although I was pretty hungry earlier, so may have come across too pointy

They've always been silent, like the PC media elsewhere, or careful when it comes to middle east to not draw a link between religion and homophobia, making it a political matter rather thus avoiding criticizing the religion. Putin and the church however, not so sensitive, no fear of death threats there. Aren't they scared? Maybe they got insider info Putin's a Psb fan?

They've spoken out a number of times on the persecution of gay people in several countries, including Iran.
Blaming a large multifaceted/factional religion for things rather than the regime is tricky because it's all about interpretation of texts written a long time ago and with little modern context.
It would also be complete nonsense to blame the entire Roman Catholic believing world for atrocities carried out by the IRA or any of the Protestant denominations for those carried out by the various Loyalist terror groupings, even though that conflict often appeared drawn on religious lines.

B/W thinking in general causes a problem. The holy scriptures were carried out through crusades and inquisitions to build our westrern civilization, all the bits and pieces of wisdom are there now, but also still the conflicts and atrocities. Question is how do we get to keep the useful part and get rid of the evil?Vintage Youth wrote: Mon 03 Mar 2025, 10:07 am They've spoken out a number of times on the persecution of gay people in several countries, including Iran.

A lot of it was also basic health and safety advice. Getting a tattoo (no sterilisation) or eating (undercooked) pork or shellfish back in those days would probably have killed you.markus wrote: Mon 03 Mar 2025, 12:11 pmB/W thinking in general causes a problem. Gosh, this is deep for a fandom forum
