It looks like these are initial workshops. That would suggest it will still be months away from opening; possibly (and genuinely) years. Based on the workshop the script, score and staging will all be refined and reworked. Closer to heaven had numerous workshop stages. I guess it’s still unclear if they have the financial backing they will need to go ahead.

We know they were writing last summer during the Royal Opera House gigs and again this winter because they dropped that new demo online. When they write it’s usually, intentionally or unintentionally, for multiple projects. Here I’m guessing they decided they needed more/new/better songs for “Naked.” Hopefully, taken together all of these things mean they are close to having something finished.

I’m pretty sure Closer To Heaven underwent a couple of rewrites following its first workshop, including numbers being written and dropped. Given this is first workshop stage I reckon we are still some time away from any opening.

I'm wondering whether it could produced as,a film for TV instead or concept album the way that Rice and Lloyds Bsnk used to kick of their ventures...
