What a surprise. Travelling to Madrid by Iberia yesterday and browsing through the music selection I found the BBC2 concert the guys played on December 12th 20212.
What an awesome tracklist!! First and only time they played The survivors!!! but also It couldn't happen here and many more. Awesome show!

If anyone got it on mp3 or streaming please let me know!

Tracklist:

- Can you forgive her?
- Memory of the future
- Miracles
- Leaving
- It couldn’t happen here
- Breathing space
- New York City boy
- The survivors
- For all of us
- He dreamed of machines
- Hold on
- West end girls

Huh? Wow, what a peculiar place to find this. It's one of my favourite PSB concerts.

Brilliant stuff. It would be nice to think it was an early sign of a full release but that’s probably wishful thinking. I was lucky enough to be there in person. It was for Radio 2 competition winners but I turned up anyway. Six of those songs were played live for the first time ever. And Tonight is forever and This must be the place hasn’t appeared in a setlist since a long time. At the end of the recording they did second takes of Miracles and Hold on to try and get better vocal takes from Neil. I heard him telling the conductor that he’d always struggled with Miracles which was why they’d never played it live. The year after this it became part of the Electric tour setlist so he must have felt he’d cracked it.

By the way, pretty much all the tracks here - including The survivors, and alongside others - were included when PSB played the Teenage Cancer Trust show at the Royal Albert Hall in 2017. In some ways that was an even more impressive setlist, adding in some of the arrangements from the “Concrete” show plus, amazingly, Later tonight.

It’s here on YouTube but the quality is a bit dodgy:

What a great find! I hope United Airlines has a similar offering when I fly to the UK next month!

Proper title is Pet Shop Boys - In Concert with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (BBC Radio 2).
I'm fairly nonplussed by this. Any radio broadcast they've done previously is easily accessible if you know how.
Nothing about this is new or significant. I think it's more the personal experience for lalolalo that motivated the post.

I'll counter this thread and suggest listening to Concrete.
Fairly underrated. It's mature and also has a real orchestra. Commentary between the tracks gives it a real and somewhat intimate feeling. Concrete from 2006 is on streaming services, fairly accessible. Has some lesser known songs performed.

When I saw them on this tour at The Sage in Gateshead, he messed the beginning of 'Miracles' up and had to stop the show and restart it.

Not at all. you're wrong. If you read my post I clearly say this is the most significant discovery in the history of mankind and I'm the best pet shop boys fan because I was there and everybody else is a stupid piece of shxt. But it meant nothing to me since I already know I'm the king of the world.

P.S. Following up - United had nothing of the sort, so I plumped for PSB-adjacent offerings and can highly recommend "Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story" and "Better Man", which was so riveting that I'm now down a Robbie Williams rabbit hole. :D

Better Man was surprisingly good. It's interesting to watch the current TOTP re-runs (1998) and to see Robbie performing knowing the demons going on inside his head at the time...

Also the Knebworth footage of Let Me Entertain You. That could have gone so Spinal Tap so fast but the big cocaine energy won out. Was disappointed no monkey battle though.

Also… look who’s on percussion for Robbie during these 1998 re-runs. It’s Dawne Adams! (Percussion on the uni/tiny/release tour)
