Why do they sell T-shirts, keychains, fanny packs, all sorts of junk that is not always needed at PSB concerts?
But there is no vinyl, no albums, no singles.
Is this prohibited or what is the point?
After all, people come to concerts for the music, and not for a keychain first and foremost.

T shirts are the norm because you can make £20 plus profit on a T shirt, they are lightweight and easy to transport to display, which is vital if you’re on a world tour. Clothing has a universal appeal while LPs and CDs are niche. Also the venue or promoter often take a cut of merch sales, which would mean any vinyl etc would have to be priced well over the odds to make it worth doing.

For example, I remember that at The Cure concert there were T-shirts, but there were no vinyl disks and as a non-fan of the band I didn't look for their vinyl for a long time after that, because I needed it at that moment. A person leaving a concert is ready to buy a record, and then the chance can be missed. And if bands are interested in selling disks, it's strange to sell T-shirts and not sell disks, even if the records will be a bit more expensive. My friend came back from Italy yesterday, 2 days ago he was at a concert in Luca, so he said that there is nothing to buy from merch there at all. T-shirts, belt bags, all sorts of nonsense, and the new album, singles were not on sale.
It's like a chocolate bar in the store at the checkout, while you're standing in line, you can make a spontaneous purchase. And then you won't go back to it on purpose.

I mean, PSB album sales would increase many times over if they sold records along with t-shirts and key chains. And we have to admit that dreamworld merch is unfortunately inferior in terms of design.

Vinyl is too big, bulky and expensive to take around the world on tour. Venues and promoters add a mark up which would make it more expensive to buy than in a store, when an LP would already be £30 plus. It’s also a niche purchase - most concert goers choose to stream. There are plenty of reasons why artists don’t sell vinyl while on world tours.

I'm kind of glad the Dreamworld tour hasn't come to Canada, because I'm not super fussy on the merch, but always "have" to buy a souvenir from concerts.

The Unity merch was pretty blah too I thought but got a long sleeve tee nonetheless.

I came up with the idea of a "qr code album" sold as an album on paper sleeve, handed out as a flyer, a billboard sign...you name it. Perfect for a band like Psb having trouble making listeners play their latest songs - at the concert just scan the code and start streaming.

I should probably start a business but can't be bothered.
