Man...35 years? I can clearly recall when it came out. I'd just started my first semester at this university when the single was released. I wasn't too sure of the direction they were taking with this new album. As a matter of fact, when the Behavior was released, my reactions were mixed....but 35 years on, Behavior ranks up there in my top three.

I still remember when I bought us cd maxi-single in Milan, Italy. I was so excited and satisfied (it was not so easy to find cd singles in Milan). Pet Shop Boys were my favourite group and I were very happy about So Hard.
However, later I did not like anymore So Hard as I liked it at the beginning. I would say I do not like the lyrics very much, and the rest of Behaviour would have been much more beatiful and interesting for me.
On the contrary, It Must Be Obvious would have grown a lot for me!

was it just me or the mastering(?) off on the original cd; I meant the overall volume of sound felt a tad lower than the rest of the tracks?

The curse of instantly liking a song. I'd say the same for a lot of PSB songs I liked instantly. They just become a bit tired after a while. Very as a whole album is also like that. Loved it from the start but over time it doesn't rank as highly for me as a whole album I'd want to listen to.VRIDD wrote: Sat 27 Sep 2025, 1:24 pm I still remember when I bought us cd maxi-single in Milan, Italy. There was a poll on X to choose the best-loved singles from 90s and for 1990,votes for So Hard and Being Boring were way higher than I expected. I did not know the general public loved So Hard that much. It has got only 6,6 million views on Youtube for God's sake. If you love it so dearly, then why do you not listen to it?
Vogue and Enjoy the Silence were winners.

I love So Hard, at the time the only song I liked off the album (most have grown on me though)
I am pretty sure the general public in my region has never heard of either So Hard or BB. There is currently a Top 90s being aired at the Dutch popular radio 2 station, and only Go West is included: https://www.nporadio2.nl/thema/dit-is-d ... h=&search=

Honestly, who listen to any thing on repeat through YT?!?! It's a platform to be watched, not listened to! Only toddlers stay on YT on repeat! Maybe Spotify could be a better proxy, but I still use my 'offline' CDs and MP3s...PSBForTheMasses wrote: Mon 06 Oct 2025, 7:19 pm There was a poll on X to choose the best-loved singles from 90s and for 1990,votes for So Hard and Being Boring were way higher than I expected. Sorry but not. It was a fan page. not any kind of official page. There are zillions of such fan pages and if I come across another one, I will happily post it here.
