Obviously they could give something as incredible as I'm Not Scared to Patsy because in 1988 they still had songs in reserve they'd written earlier in the decade. I can't see them doing that in 1998.
In fact I think Patsy performing I'm Not Scared on Top of the Pops might be their finest pop moment. She's so sexy. For a group who famously said they didn't sell sex (and looked completely incongruous in that Going Live! appearance on here recently), it's a glimpse into what they could have been as pop svengalis.
They also had the whole picture in mind, which obviously helps if you want to do a good job. They specifically wanted a Lolita type doing Italo disco, the way it was done in France. Hits like Irresistible by Stephanie of Monaco and Boule de flipper by Corryne Charbi were probably the inspiration.
