From my experience it's bots from China scraping the website. I have that same annoyance with my forum (zoolook.nl - a Jean-Michel Jarre forum). I recently installed a WAF there which blocks a lot of IP adresses.

China, what will become of that superpower before all is said and done? Tik Tok is the strangest mental bubble since acid came sliced. AI doesn't have a clue of this forums contents, at least the free version doesn't, though it might be scanning and filing it for future reference.

I really want to like Forever in love. The verses are amazing, and the chorus is really good as well.

However, I always had a slight problem with the (sampled?) female voice in the second half of that songs. To me as a native german speaker it always sounded as if she is singing "Bergziege", which would directly translate to "mountain goat" in english. Unfortunately, I cannot unhear this anymore and it is the only reason why I generally try to avoid this song - it really annoys me a lot. It would be amazing if someone could tell me what she actually says, maybe this could then help me unhear it.

Track 76: Confidential (Demo for Tina)

Chronology: Very, Further Listening, Track 3

A furtive Neil skulking around the laneways of melancholia is always a sure thing with me. I really like this. An overpowering sense of sadness suffuses the romantic sincerity. The demo is raw in every sense and is hugely superior to the Turner version which is, like a few of their songs-for-divas in this period, let down by deeply crap production that washes away the heart and soul of the song.

I suspect this might have connected more had it emerged half a decade earlier. As it was, Neil singing coyly about forbidden love seemed incongruous a few years after his Attitude interview and the whole Very epoch. It's a lovely song, though.

Confidential became far more than just a song to me some 25 years ago. During a period of crisis, when everything around me felt pitch black, it was a kind of companion — almost a friend. Not because of the lyrics, but because of the music itself: that quiet, comforting melancholy. At a time when there was little hope to be found elsewhere, the song provided it for me. I’ll always be in debt to PSB for writing it.

I listened to this version a lot more than the Tina version, but a while ago I put her version on again and I was amazed how well her voice fits this song. They really know how to write songs for people.

I bought Tina's album on holiday in Turkey in 1998. Great album, Confidential is not the strongest track. By far.

I was with a friend, playing his CDs as we were heading out. All kinds of rubbish he owned. Then I came across a track written by PSB — thank God, I thought.
I had heard it once before, back when Tina’s CD was new, and had dismissed Confidential as disappointing. This time I played it again and again.
We didn’t get into the club that night. That was fine — I had already fallen in love.

Track 77: Hey, Headmaster

Chronology: Very, Further Listening, Track 4

A true classic. I love the perspective of this track and how it is empathetic towards the troubled headmaster. The lyric 'Pack your bags up, you old bibliophile' could only be written by Neil. Redolent of Goodbye, Mr Chips and The Browning Version, it has a different tone to both It's a Sin and This Must Be The Place I Waited Years To Leave because Neil is focusing on the individual rather than the institution.
