Dreamworld Live Blu-ray
The email I received says that it was filmed with 14 cameras in 4K digitally.
Anyone else disappointed that it is being released as just a blu-ray and CDs? Why isn't it being released as a 4K UHD Blu-ray and standard Blu-Ray. What is on the CDs? I'd much rather have a 4K UHD than CDs.
Makes no sense to me.

Re: Dreamworld Live Blu-ray
I like the idea of having an audio version. I listen to the audio of Pandemonium, Inner Sanctum and Discovery more often than I watch the videos.
The omission of ‘Go West’ is annoying, though. It’s a ‘greatest hits’ show and it is one of their biggest hits. There’s no reasoning with some people and principles at stake, I know, but it is a pain. Weirdly, if they’d filmed one of the more recent performances where it’s out of the set entirely, I would be less bothered.

I won’t miss it personally, but yes, generally speaking its absence is indeed annoying as it’s also their only hit from the 90s - apart from New York city boy which indeed made me become a fan.

Yes it's a shame Go West is being deleted from the Blu-ray but my post was about the absence of a 4K UHD disc.

Isn't it a rather niche format at this point? Even Blu-rays are, to be fair, I'll be getting for the CDs mostly.

Re: Dreamworld Live Blu-ray
4K Ultra HD Blu-ray was officially launched 10 years ago. I don't think it's still niche at all.

Besides what was the point of filming it in 4K if its not going to be released in 4K?

Digital download or Netflix, or maybe some fan will hopefully upload the 4k on YouTube. It'll surface I'm sure.

Unfortunately streaming quality is never as good as physical disc. Hopefully they will consider releasing a 4K UHD a special edition some time in the future.

Re: Dreamworld Live Blu-ray
I hate to think we've devolved to the point where we're believing anything generated by AI. But I suppose it depends how we're defining niche. 4K UHD is the fastest growing physical media format, up about 10% last year alone. Bear in mind we're still talking billions with a when it comes to 4K hardware so I'm not sure terms like "niche" are very descriptive.Future Lover wrote: Thu 08 Jan 2026, 3:11 pm Not the AI summary confirming what I said...

It does cost more to make a 4K disc, which is why marginal sellers like Dreamworld are relegated to Blu-ray. On the plus side, a physical 1080p release is generally higher quality than a 4K stream due to compression, so consumers are still coming out ahead.

I'll get this for the CD's, already seen enough versions of that concert set to not want to see it again anytime soon I'm afraid. Hope they move onto something new soon, been going on too long.
And at the end/ Your funny Uncle staring / At all your friends / With military bearing

YouTube and Netflix will likely upgrade 4k streaming and improve the quality even further, don't think physical media holds the future. Maybe PSB foresee this?

Re: Dreamworld Live Blu-ray
Physical media is obviously here for the long haul due to rights issues, if nothing else. But I don't think you understand just how superior 4K discs are to 4K streaming at the moment - right now you're looking at something like literally 10x the data on the high end. That just isn't going to equalize any time soon, especially with data center prices skyrocketing thanks to AI.markus wrote: Thu 08 Jan 2026, 9:08 pmYouTube and Netflix will likely upgrade 4k streaming and improve the quality even further, don't think physical media holds the future.
Re: Dreamworld Live Blu-ray
Streaming should theoretically be able to reach the same levels. Netflix lossless is coming, just a matter of time.NotInvisible wrote: Thu 08 Jan 2026, 10:59 pmPhysical media is obviously here for the long haul due to rights issues, if nothing else. Re: Dreamworld Live Blu-ray
I think fans would prefer physical disc as people collect physical items. I hope we can get to see it in 4K as I imagine it looks spectacular. I went to 3 of the concerts of the Dreamworld tour and the staging was amazing.
