Indeed a pity that the documentary is not on it. They probably did lose a lot of money on this release, with the Go west lawsuits and having to repress all CDs and blurays and the cases and destroy the original release that was likely pressed in full (as single items have surfaced on the Dutch record fare just days before the official release date and just before the release was withdrawn).

I have watched the Dreamworld bluray once, so now it can be shelved. Still have to listen to and rip the CDs which I will also rarely listen to (maybe Paninaro live), as I also do not think that live audio of a PSB concert is in any way interesting without the visuals. Concrete is the exception.

I do enjoy their live shows though and also like to watch the video releases of these shows, but not this Denmark show mainly due to the poor sound. I don't remember anything bad about the sound in the cinema at the time though.

It also makes me wonder how many copies of such a release are sold nowdays. 2000 worldwide? 4000? More? Less? I only know one person who has a bluray player and nobody I know still plays CDs, but of course die hard fans will have bought it. But the general audience certainly will not and even many fans here stream only. All the Nonetheless CD singles are also still readily available for example. How many of these were pressed worldwide?

I know lots of people that own blu-ray player. Sometimes I think we get very “ narrow minded “ in this forum. Know lots of people who really like PSB,and buy their records, but would never dream of visiting/posting on a forum like this.

Blu-ray sales were largely flat at $870m last year. It's quite a large niche market that appears to have found its floor. But the answer to your question is "obviously enough to be financially worthwhile".

Apparently. A bluray like DW will not bring in a huge profit, but enough to break even and gain some momentum for extra ticket sales, where the real money is these days.

In a way it is great that we still have the occasional concert video release. Compared to the abundancy of concert video releases in the 80s and 90s on VHS and even laserdisc, and in the 00s on DVD, concert videos on bluray (let alone 4K UHD discs!) are now a niche within a niche. Most big concert movies are nowadays also stream only (Harry Styles, Gaga). And still so many vault releases that never got a dvd or bluray release (for Madonna's Blond Ambition tour, 2 shows were released on VHS and laserdisc plus the Truth or dare movie with footage from another concert, with the first two never released in a digital video format). So I was happy to learn that George Michael's Faith tour will get a proper release using the 35-mm source, so let's hope this will be a bluray physical release as well. If only someone would finish Bowie's Stage movie...

Still, the last two concert blurays I bought were a bit of a disappointment (PSB Dreamland and DM's M), even though I am glad I bought them.

In 2013 it was mostly on tape and now it‘s mostly played live by four people. I think that’s why some sounds are missing.

No one’s going through the effort and expense to break even; they’re obviously profitable. And likewise they aren’t exactly giving momentum for ticket sales, since they’re usually not for tours that are still running…

Maybe, but they will sell not more than 2000-3000 copies. Retail price is €35, with likely €10 for distribution and end seller profit, €5 production cost of the physical product (pressing the discs etc) which leaves €20 that will not all go the artist or record company. But even at €20 that will be a meager €40-60K. Minus the production cost to make the movie (camera, sound, editing, mixing etc). That does not leave a lot.

The timing for that release was horrible, too late. Also no extra content, no Go West neither Nonetheless tracks on the show… I’m not buying it; I’ve enjoyed the show 5 times and I would need extra content added to that release to make it more attractive for me to buy it.

I think this is a refreshing perspective. People are way too quick to buy sub-standard "product" these days, from whatever industry. If there is no great value in a purchase, why buy?

I haven't bought this Bluray yet - and likely won't. It's incomplete - which is beyond their control - but the sound quality reviews leave me in little doubt that it's a little sub-standard. At the current price point, I have better things to spend my money on.

That said, each to their own. Others will get great value from this, so good luck to them.

I am a lot slower these days to buy PSB releases or concert tickets at €150 a pop. I haven't bothered with Disco 5 - and won't - and am still getting around to completing the CD singles from Nonetheless. I will pick up the special edition of the album - with the demos - soon enough. I suppose when you've already bought the deluxe edition on release and then the atmos Bluray version, the desire to buy a third version of the same, slightly underwhelming, album fades. But the demos are a great draw...the value I mentioned earlier.

A CD singles boxset, of course, would have me salivating. But until they start releasing stuff I genuinely get excited about, I'll keep my hands in my pockets.

I finally had the chance to listen to the bluray in Atmos. I agree with the people here that it doesn't sound good. It sounds very thin. The stereo mix is so much better.

There is no Atmos mix on the Dreamworld Blu-ray.
