The Catalogue Soft Pack Reissues Part 2

#1 Post by greenmile »

Looks like the rest of the bands catalogue up to Elysium is getting reissued in May in the same gatefold soft packs as the previous bunch.

Dang. I bought the first round, so the completist in me wants these.

First time I hear about this.
What is a "gatefold soft pack"? Something like the recent cd singles?

From an email sent by Townsend Music this morning:

For 2026, the Pet Shop Boys continue their comprehensive "Catalogue: 1985–2012" reissue campaign, specifically updating the later studio albums originally released between 1999 and 2012. Following the update of their first six albums, the remaining studio albums in the Parlophone era are available in definitive, remastered formats. These reissues typically feature 2017/2018 remastered audio and are packaged in gatefold card sleeves for the first time.

How limited are these? The original 6 CD bundle from last year is still available, so maybe not so limited?

So these are available since Friday, they're in shops and online.
Any thoughts to share? Who is buying these?
I'd like to see the inside of the gatefolds.

There's also the updated design choices of the actual CD inside.
Is the CD for Release transparent? From what I'm seeing, it is. But it could be an error in the image editing for the product picture. If someone can confirm whether it's plain white or translucent with the flower design that would be great.

That's a very odd choice for Elysium (I assume) - it's quite an odd looking photo shoot but also just quite different from the aesthetic of the album and the way it's clustered towards the centre of the gatefold is stressing me out a bit. Might have expected them to use the beautiful Leaving portraits!

I think the Yes one is a bit odd too given the vibrant colours of that iconic tick. B&W silhouettes inside...really?!
