Just received mine, and yes I was aware before ordering that the layout and shape/size of Volume is different from its predecessor, but I have to say that Catalogue just feels and appears a lot better to view and look through. Maybe because it's presented in a square format that lends itself to record sleeves.. A pity they didn't insist on the same layout for Volume.. That said, Volume is still a thing of beauty..

I'm also interested if (by any chance) a fan has a spare copy they'd like to sell.
Fingers crossed...

ok, so yes, catalogue is more 3:4 but still has the same information.

the volume book still looks like a normal format book to me.

Anyone still worried about not getting theirs yet, Volume customer services are very good. I was panicking a bit yesterday and chased mine up, they gave the warehouse a kick, and it actually arrived earlier today. Email is hello@vol.co

Having flicked through Volume I'm actually disappointed. There's quite a bit of text left out from its Catalogue counterpart, the cassette singles don't seem to exist and even the example above shows that certain sleeve artwork has been ignored. Why show us the Bobcat label West End girls in Catalogue only to completly ignore it in Volume.

it comes down to the layout.

you either cram everything into a smaller space.

or make the prominent ones bigger.

i think they wanted larger screenshots, so some items had to be dropped.

i'll be getting the regular one, and might attempt to do a comparison.

i did scan the original catalogue digitally. so that might make it easier.

There’s at least one photo of a release missing from nearly every release. Whether it’s the front of the opportunities 6” label that’s gone, or the complete vanishing of the West End girls 12” shep pettibone German mastermix release. The cd inner sleeves of Can you forgive her?? are missing. Jealousy is missing all its back covers, the cd itself and the inner photos.

I'm okay with them prioritizing... those images were hardly essential.

It's beautiful.

It's heavy.

Love they have updated Catalogue to contemporary artwork. The extra 22 years almost certainly necessitated the format change and it's been done really well.

Indulging in it this weekend ahead of Obscure! (Catalogue next to me for comparisons)

Do any of you have a copy of Catalogue that doesn't have the sticker? I recall seeing only a few at Barnes & Noble without the sticker, so that's the one I bought.
