Oh dear. I'm convinced that they were both off their faces around this time - how can a group that had made Being Boring release something like In Denial?

They've always liked some kitsch crap but previously that had only informed their work through a strange kind of alchemy - now they were making it themselves. Awful and unredeemable.

A bad influence from the musical. Altough the production is great it does not fit Nightlife. Also a missed opportunity dueting with Kylie Minogue on this track; a Kylie duet would have been much better with a different kind of song. In my opinion a forgettable Nightlife track, same league as The only one and Happiness is an option.

I thought it was brave at the time. But it hasn't aged well. Now it's rather cringe, yes. I didn't know who Kylie was back then, little they knew that she would have another imperial phase just one year after Nightlife.

When I heard there was a collaboration with Kylie for Nightlife, I remember being excited for a big, fast-paced electropop track. Obviously, it was a disappointment. However, once I got over my initial expectations, the song isn't bad at all. I think the music is pretty good, the lyrics... Well... Let's just forget about them.

Good is a relative concept. By PSB standards this and T'only one are very poor, bordering on crap, despite the lush production.

I don't believe they need collabs or features. None of them inspire me.

it may work in some settings. Not this though. not what I want from PSB and certainly not from a duet with Kylie. really starting to lose me at this point

I used to quite enjoy In Denial but I've come around to the view in retrospect that it's not that great. The lyrics anchor the song in a very particular moment of lived experience and unlike other lyrics deprives the listener (irrespective of their gender ot sexuality) the capacity to make their own interpretation of the song. There are some nice musical touches and the Armstrong arrangement is thoughtful if maximal. However, "look at me, I'm sad" really is a dud lyric and deflates any momentum the song might have been building. Did I see the show in London during its first run? Yes I did. Once was enough.

Great production, shame about the song.

TV channels - such as Sky - liked to use the backing track of this around release time for their programmes. They clearly knew something... But the story iself is hilariously naff. What a waste of Kylie.

This album really is sailing over the rainbow at this point, and laying waste to the Munchkins below.
