It’s awful. Not everything is worth releasing: there was no need to put out this demo. There are some demos in the *Further Listening* sets that don't add anything of value.

I agree it's awful, but it raises an interesting question. Would we rather have a perfectly curated catalogue or would we rather have a chance to hear the doodles, sketches and missed targets?

It's not an attempt to write in the style of Brecht/Weill by any chance? The combination of chord change, production and tune remind me of what keeps mankind alive.

Initially, I’d lean towards option B. But then I listen to Motoring, and I jump headfirst into option A.

I'm for option B, if only to see how an artist progressed. If you look at Jean-Michel Jarre, there's a huge leap between Magnetic Fields and Zoolook. Turns out that when you listen to Music For Supermarkets, which is released between these two albums, in a total print run of 1 so it was hard to listen to for years, you see the transition between these other two albums.

Originally written for Alcazar, later released as a limited edition RSD 7".

Not an especially powerful or engaging song, rather repetitive, but made pleasant enough through its nu-disco stylings.

Retro.

It's a poppy song, and better than I always remember. Every time I play it I think: yeah, this is rather good, isn't it?

Always judging by his usual standards, this song strikes me as mediocre. That’s what happens when your baseline is so high.

Worth remembering that there are two versions of this song. The RSD seven-inch had the spoken word bit from Neil.
