I suspect the official store one has a slipcase but the SDE version will have a slightly different slipcase for us completists.

They're the same.

"SDE & D2C exclusive slipcase".
I didn't realise the Blu-ray was sold elsewhere, but it is.
Also I notice the Blu-ray includes a 24 page booklet.

The bluray slipcase is the perfect cover imo. That perforation effect is essential to the design.

I'm assuming the "green/orange" colour scheme on the cover is tied to early monochrome computer monitors.In the 1970s and 1980s, before full-color displays existed, computer screens were entirely text-based. They used monochrome cathode-ray tubes (CRTs) that displayed text in only one color against a black background. The two most popular and iconic colors for these displays were phosphor green and amber (orange).Beyond that, the combination is also used in modern tech for:Networking: Orange fiber optic cables often pair with green connectors to indicate specific hardware standards.Interface Design: Digital interfaces frequently use green for "success/go" actions and orange for "warnings."

Great observation! I think you're 100% right. I love the cover especially the vinyl version with what I am assuming are computer punch card holes.

We'll have to wait 20 years for it to be confirmed in Volume 3....

By happy coincidence, my local public library had the e-book available for checkout so I'm busy ploughing my way through that. (Very well written so far but massive - I've only just finished his Cambridge years. Even the science is engrossing.) The cover looks a little familiar though. I think the AMFTF cover designs may be supposed to "imitate" the Bombe machine that Turing built at Bletchley Park to crack the Enigma code. Three banks of 12x3 circles.
