It puzzles me why he's leaving the French national team. Was he only in charge for a couple of years to steady the ship after Lemerre and the disaster of the World Cup, or is there something else going on.
You can't imagine the French want rid of him, with them being unbeaten for the last couple of years, and if they did, you'd think club sides would be queueing up to offer him a job. Can anyone enlighten me?
Delighted, anyway. The best I was hoping for before today was Houllier or Ranieri (O'Neill was never going to go to Spurs, was he?).

Santini wasn't offered a new deal to manage France so he was always open to offers from elsewhere.
I don't know that much about him but it sounds like good news for Spurs fams. I'm now hoping this news will unsettle the French players, particularly those playing for Arsenal, and give England a psychological boost ahead of June 13th...

Thumbs up for this appointment. It's about time though. Tottenham have become a farce, a laughing stock. Hopefully now Spurs can start building and bring back the 'glory glory years'
The chairman, Daniel Levy is a joke and must resign. His poor running of the club, especially last season, could have got us relegated. It's ok him getting a top manager but he certainly wasn't 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice, which is odd because last Christmas Spurs had their man!

I'm actually reserving judgement on this appointment. I think almost any manager could get results with the current French team and Santini just has one championship to his name at club level and that was only the French championship.
I've also heard that there was a lot of dressing room unrest at Lyon and he was moved "upstairs" prior to getting the national coach job. Can anyone shed any light on this? He only got the French national coach post because of his friendship with Platini.
