Really enjoyed this and what a nice surprise! You made my day and got me in the Xmas spirit (and thanks for mentioning my name at the end!)

The Dutch guy (Adam Curry) says: "Dit is echt fantastisch!", which means "This is really fantastic!" in Dutch.

Loved the Bruno Brookes tape. Do you also happen to have the chart rundown from the week before, when PSB leapfrogged over Rick Astley?

It’s great, isn’t it? I actually found it on Mixcloud. There are a few on there, not sure if the one you are after is though.
Woof.

It was fun to hear the Bruno Brookes rundown - took me back to Sunday nights blasting the radio while I was in the bathtub!

I'm with you on the sentiment for Fairytale of New York. I don't quite understand its appeal, and to be honest, although you touted a Christmassy reworking of Always on my mind, I kind of find it oozes Christmas the way it is already.

I've listened to every episode and the podcast just couldn't have been any better. It's thoughtful and insightful, surprising and witty, personal and good-natured. Thank you so much, I'm hoping for many more episodes.

Wow, thank you for your really kind words. We don’t do it for the compliments but it’s really appreciated when people take time to say nice things. It is certainly encouragement to make a few more.

I can’t believe Graham can’t tell the difference between Chris and Phil Oakeys vocals on This used to be the future though!
Thanks for the nice comments - I still can't hear a 'definitive sounding' Chris vocal though. As someone who has spent a lot of time in Sheffield, (and even randomly went on a night out with Phil's brother) I struggle to hear a third voice.

For those lucky enough to hear it - which is the Chris bit?

G.
Neil starts the song, and then Chris picks up from “I can recall Utopian thinking” - you can recognise his broad Blackpool accent, plus he has a predilection for pronouncing his Ts - see also Subculture.

Phil sings the contrasting Orwellian-type post-chorus “but that future was exciting” bit

And from “I can remember planning for leisure” you have a PSB-exclusive, I think the only time Neil and Chris have effectively duetted together as they both sing that verse

A great song!

Yes I can hear it now thanks.

It is a great song though - definitely one for the 'deep cuts' show that we are all hoping for.

Will there be a special episode for Nonetheless? 🤞
