A face like that and Breathing space are also five-star songs for me.Patrick Bateman wrote:Leaving? What devalues the song for me, is that Invisible sounds heavily 'inspired' by Moments of Love by The Art of Noise

I think all of Very's marketing, including costume videos, turned a lot of people off Pet Shop Boys.
For me, Before is their worst debut single by far. In fact, I like Hit and Miss much better, although I also think things wouldn't have changed much if they'd opted for a different song.
Leaving out "Hotspot, An Open Mind" and "Decide" and including "The Unnamable" is like calling out Mulder and Scully

No, but it is probably just me because I am not that "romantic chap" who could enjoy its merits .Patrick Bateman wrote: Wed 22 Oct 2025, 6:09 pmLeaving? But after all, my favourite track from Nightlife is Boy Strange next to Radiophonic so who am I to criticize :=)

I feel like I'm in an extreme minority in that I actually love Elysium. Of all their albums, it's probably Super that really doesn't do it for me, even though I do like some of the songs.
I think I've come to terms with An open mind and Decide being left off Hotspot, however I still wish Wedding in Berlin was a B-Side as well and the album ended at Burning the heather.
In regards to what I think may be missteps, I was never keen on Did you see me coming? as a single. I was personally hoping for All over the world (without knowing that was their preference at the time) followed by Pandemonium or The way it used to be.
I'm also a bit disappointed about Disco 5, and it seems I'm not the only one. I was really hoping for the unreleased Noel Gallagher remix and perhaps at least one new item. I reckon Sense of time would've worked perfectly on this album, and a small part of me was hoping they'd surprise me with an extended mix of that song. Alas.
I can't really judge their decisions pre-Fundamental as I wasn't aware of them until that era.
