Any particular reason? Sylvia Mason-James, right?

Perhaps I don't know, all I can say it wasn't the right song for them at that time it doesn't fit on Bilingual. To be honest it doesn't fit anywhere. Female backing vocals was a bad choice.

If love were all. Dreadful, horrible and vile.
Only TNIFIL and SNF come close.
"Unprofessional? Us? Sir. Might I with due respect remind you that Mister Vandemar and myself burned down the City of Troy? We brought the Black Plague to Flanders. We have assassinated a dozen kings, five popes, half a hundred heroes and two accredited gods. Our last commission before this was the torturing to death of an entire monastery in sixteenth century Tuscany. We are utterly professional." - Mr Croup

I leave the b-sides out of the equation, because they have the license of being sometimes crap and you can easily ignore them. Out of the album tracks I think Saturday Night Forever is the weakest. It sounds like a really cynical attempt at making a throwaway pop song – the production is tinny, the lyrics deplorable, the hook forgettable and Neil sings it painfully badly.

Worst Single - New York city boy
Worst b-side - Searching for the face of Jesus / Was that what it was?
Worst album track - Saturday Night Forever / The night I fell in love
Worst remixes - (By far) I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing (Wild Pitch - All of them)

I think you will find Sylvia had nothing to do with Before whatsoever.
The backing vocals were by Barbara Tucker, Karen Bernod & Carole Sylvan.
Perhaps if Sylvia was singing on it, it may have improved the song!
Who knows!
