Amazing thread!

My mindset works first in order to give the message to that friend that he KNOWS Pet Shop Boys even if he think he doesn't know. So my pick would be one song which reached number 1. In Brazil:

- What have I done to deserve this
- Always on my mind
- Go West
- New York City Boy

etc...
One can't find the way to peace. Peace is the way itself. (Gandhi)

All good songs but I must nitpick. Of the first two I would choose Always on my mind, one of their best, the other two are too 'gay' to present to someone that isn't into PSB.
I'm riding a thin line here but I hope you understand what I mean.

Suburbia (Single Version)
I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing (Single Version)
You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk
I Get Along
Minimal

I think that covers all phases of their career, you don't have the gay dance songs but you still have some slower and some faster ones.

West End Girls ( PSB singing about girls, about as hetero as PSB could get)
Being Boring (actually a really gay song, but appeals to anyone with a past)
Hey Headmaster (i still don't know waht this song is really about, so it's safe)
In the Night (just cool, kinda gay)
Opportunities (beauty and the geek anyone?)inspired by midnight cowboy which is also gay
Mein Teil (psb mix) about a gay cannibal but rockin' and in german
Mope (psb mix) bloodhound gang, with FGTH samples
Miserablism (really has aged well) but he sings about drama
The Resurrectionist, (reminds me of coldplay)
PSB really went "gay" after working with Liza, still just about anything pre was it worth it minus, minus rent, later tonight, nervously.

Really tho, aren't you being dishonest by portraying PSB as a virile heterosexual techno pop duo? Best to pick your favorites and come out as a PSB fan.

Axl Rose is/was a big PSB fan, so who knows PSB may appeal to his more sensitive side, still if you are afraid of being called a poofster turd burglar, he will find out if he likes your CD and gets the full length albums stocked with gay innuendo, so compile at your own risk.
for someone who does not like PSB I would say

Battleship Potemkin - which is a fine piece of work, and leaves much to the imagination.

Being boring
Left to my own devices
Luna Park
Your funny uncle
Love is a Catastrophe
Discoteca / Single
Integral
ICHH
One More Chance
Jealousy

A mixture of different styles and different PSB eras.
Love comes quickly, but is a catastrophe and a bourgeois construct etc.

You guessed. When I first became a fan, I couldn't stop listening to Relentless, 'cause was always a trance fan (still am). All that proves how versatile PSB are which is totally great. In PSB catalogue, any music fan would find something for himself, although I think jazz style can't be found...

It´s a Sin, a legend which everyone knows.
Interviewer:
-What would you tell someone about yourself if you wanted to impress them?

Chris:
-I´ve got a 12-inch plonker.

I've converted 3 few people to the PSB fold. The three tracks that did the trick were...

How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously? (Mo mo mix)
Dreaming Of The Queen
Se A Vida E
