I'm not too sure you can attribute the YMIWM lyric to Neil coz the bit 'you've made such a little go a very long way' was actually written in Jonathon Kings last article in the Sun Newspaper when he was leaving as part of his opinion on the PSB. Far too many favourite quotes but not that many that I consider funny as such. JS

It's very good. Maybe one of my favourites.karmavore wrote:hands down...

Back in august 1990 in swedish radio (1 month before release)
I heard a program called "Flip Flop" in swedish P3 program
and the "Jury" "flipped" this single and one of the
Jury members said "We've both given up smoking 'cause it's fatal / So whose matches are those?" it's absolutely splendid. I have to agree.
So Hard became high in swedish charts , actually number one in the "trackslistan" for 2 weeks

My favourite.diana wrote:"For I was in the nude, the old queen disapproved"
Dreaming of the Queen
This is by far the WORST Pet Shop Boys lyric:
Actually it doesn't look quite as bad written down as it sounds on Saturday Night Forever. If you see someone gorgeous then you think. Am I in with a chance? Should I try? Buy a drink?

I think my fave is:
Tell me you love me/ Admit it, you're really impressed/
Would it not amuse you/ For me to seduce you?/
Have you ever seen me undressed?/
but coming in a close second:
Call it perfomrnace, call it art/ I call it disaster if the tapes don't start/
I've put all my life into live lip-sync/ I'm an artist, honey/
You gonna get me a drink?/

Have you ever seen me undressed?/

I like it here ~~ wherever it is ...

Of course the funniest lyric ever is also a song title...
"Bubadubadubadubadubadum"
huba huba huba huba hum
And not forgetting the whole of 'The Sound of the Atom Splitting'
Oh, and,
"I was walking down the high street in the middle of the night
Someone caught my eye and I nearly died of fright
Crossed the road to whisper something secret in my ear
And now I know I'll never be the same again
Oh dear!"

A great lyric but you have to include the whole slightly dodgy but also genius non-rhyming, rhyming couplet to fully appreciate it:We've both given up smoking 'cause it's fatal / So whose matches are those?
I'm always hoping you'll be faithful, but you're not I suppose.
We've both given up smoking, cos it's fatal, so who's matching are those.
Rhyming 'faithful' with 'fatal'
One tat always raises a smile with me:
It all takes courage
You know it
Just crossing the steet,
well it's almost heroic
Flamboyant.

I think you're reading something into it that was not intended at all. But whatever amuses you...weirdalfan1980 wrote:See the joke to that is that you never know what the photographer saw, that i wouldn't touch with a pole, especially when it comes to Neildiana wrote:When you see in the papers pictures of yourself you don't like very much.Joemoz wrote: Why is that funny?Very good lyric, my choice too.
It was a cough that carried him off. It was a coffin they carried him off in.
