The Pets are only slated to play for an hour and twenty minutes at Summer Sonic - I wonder what will get chopped? Well, I suppose I will find out for myself soon enough. :D

Perhaps so, which day will you attend at the festival, Dipso? In Osaka or Tokyo?

I'm going to both nights - Osaka on Saturday and Tokyo on Sunday. I am reliably informed that the Pets arrived in Osaka first thing this morning.

Oh reliably informed huh, pretty good. Everyone has a good source somewhere it seems. I imagined they would arrive on Friday, that is good, I hope you catch them at the end like desmond did in Singapore.

Dipso, guess the set list will probably be like what we had in Sin. Go find out when will they be performing...BUT my 6 sense say they maybe the last act at your end too due to the time taken to set the props up before PSB can perform.....do hang around after the show at the artistes enclosure and ambush the boys.....

The Pets are indeed last on their stage at Summer Sonic. It will be an early finish though - the Pets are scheduled to appear from 7.35pm to 8.55pm. Rest assured that Miss Fumiko and myself will do some lurking about after the show has finished!

Wow that's mighty early as compare to SingFest, guess it's because SingFest 8th Aug was a weekday thus so late whereas Sonic is held over the weekend thus so early. Better lurk before the show and see where they enter so you know where to hang out after the concert to catch them.

for those of you @ Singfest:

Inaugural S'pore music fest brings back sexy '80s
Kenny Santana, Contributor, Singapore, qnoy2k@yahoo.com

The music of the '80s is still alive and kicking, as shown by last week's SingFest, held on Aug. 8-9 and touted as the "largest outdoor music festival" ever held in Singapore.

Although the festival lineup also included the Sasha Bach Band, Sugar Ray, Shaggy and The Stranglers at the same day, it was obvious that the stars of the first night were two legends of the 1980s, Cyndi Lauper and Pet Shop Boys.
<snip>
Sugar Ray was followed by Pet Shop Boys, the Grammy-winning electronic duo from England. Different from the other singers that first day, the stage was transformed into a colorful set with fancy neon lights and a white-fabric screen to project digital media. Compared to the other performers, Pet Shop Boys turned out a full performance.

Around midnight, duo Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe -- accompanied by backup singers, dancers and amazing props -- took to the stage to give the audience the best of their 25-plus-year career.

Suburbia, Se a vida e, West End Girls, Always On My Mind and Where the Streets Have No Name were thrown together with two hip-hop dancers and three backup singers (who doubled as dancers) in flashy costumes like gold cowboy outfits, "military" attire and athletic jumpsuits.

The SingFest audience was lucky to witness the trademark Pet Shop Boys show, with computerized music, bright costumes, colorful neons and multimedia -- all used to create a stronger story to illustrate their songs. The projected videos were often in synch with the dance choreography, lending a soul of its own.

When they said goodbye after a little over an hour, concertgoers anticipated at least two essential tracks for the encore. During the pause, the cliched, inevitable but necessary chant of "we want more" was repeated over and over.

After a minute set change, the boys were back with 1987's It's a Sin, a Pet Shop Boys staple, along with West End Girls.

Finally they closed the concert with Go West, a 1993 remake of a 1979 song by Village Voice with lyrics so easy to memorize that soon the entire audience was singing in unison.

Jumping, marching, hands raised in fists toward the west were the vivid images that closed SingFest's first day: Go west, life is peaceful there/Go west, there in the open sky/Go west, where the skies are blue/Go west, this is what I'm gonna do.

With this perfect finale, SingFest reminded concertgoers that the good ol' times are, obviously, still very much alive.
I like it here ~~ wherever it is ...
