Yeah, that's right, get on me about a superfluous fact and ignore the point of the post. It charted terribly, worst out of their main albums and Disco's, I'm sorry if I stated it more extravagantly. Now do you have something worthwhile to say?

Then it took you 12 minutes to come up with those 2 lines.

You state: "Its their worst selling album ever". I would like to know where the proof is.

PopArt charted badly too but isn't it their biggest selling release since Very?

If I were them I would simply say maybe its best to add a couple new tracks on.
I mean they have to know us by now. it wouldnt take much to change disco 4 from being the dissapointment it is by simply putting a couple new songs.

for a tiny amount of effort the issue is so easily solved.

I believe it sold well, despite peaking at 30 on the UK chart and only spending 9 weeks in the top 100. Disco 3 peaked at 36 and I think it only spent 2 or 3 in the top 100.

I have spoken to people outwith the UK about Disco 4, thinking they would be interested in it because possibly the tracks on offer wouldn't be readily available to them and even they don't want to know.

I think they've probably run the gamut of emotions - like we did - over this release.
Anger, Defensiveness, Defiance. Even sadness.
I've been an avid fan since about 1993. I've never seen this much vitriol expended over a new release & I'm sure they haven't either. Perhaps this is good. Artists & their fans don't operate in a vaccuum - if everything was always Prozac level, life would be interminable. So, I propose that it's good for us all to get worked up from time to time. PSB need to know we care & we fans need to be jogged out of our routine.

Bottom line is that whatever we may say - this is their course & only history can provide the answer as to whether this was worth it or not.

Does this mean the next studio will be an absolute belter? (Fundamental was excellent) - I hope so.

If I were Neil or Chris, this wouldn't be released.

There are a lot of avid collectors who actually went out and bought the Atomizer, Madonna, Killers singles without caring at all for the performers, just because they love the Pet Shop Boys and wanted to get the remixes. These people have all the right to be pissed off now. There are, on the other hand, people who want to just collect everything PSB put out as PSB, and these people will have to pay full album price for what is essentially -- from their point of view -- a remix of Integral and a lot of crap. There are people who don't care about PSB and guess what? -- they still won't.

On the plus side, putting out an, oooh, 1CD compilation of 6 remixes is good because, err, I can't really think of any reason...

I hate selective compilations in general. I don't care about any of the remixes included except for the Atomizer remix and guess what? I've got that one. (On vinyl, but I still do.) The Rammstein remix I don't only have but prefer the one with guitars. The Madonna remix is, oh well... not very good... etc.

But hey! not all is lost. Perhaps the sleeve will be really good.

I think the attitude people are going to take towards this release is that of my friend, avid collector who buys everything, who said "oh well... I'll get this when it's available for 4.99 euro in the dumper bins".

I don't get why people are so hung up about this Disco 4 release. From my point of view it's a non-event - I'll buy it and never listen to it, since I already know the tracks. I've bought so many PSB items that I never listen to anyway.

I'm sure some people will enjoy it - the rest of us can just look forward to new things - at least they can't have spent much time on this release.

Oneofthecrowd, I believe D3 sold somewhere around 40,000 units, which would be the lowest out of all the albums, Disco's, and compilations. However, I read that a while back in a place I can't remember so I can't use that as 'proof'. It's just one of those little bits of info I've picked up and use on occasion.

And you still had nothing worthwhile to say. Next time you should get on me about my spelling and put our time to real use.

I'm also sorry that it took me 12 minutes to reply, for you see I spend all my time on this website and wait with bated breath for someone to reply to a post I made.
