Russia have looked very good so far.

We played only 2 games. I watched Argentina yesterday and I must say European football is stronger now. Argentina is full of stars, but Croatia played so quite and strong.

I have to say I was skeptical about my countrymen's chances, but my God...we blew the Gauchos away. Argentina was pretty poor, but don't take away anything from the excellent Croatians. I hope we can go far this time, even further than '98.

I agree. Honestly, I am tired of all those super teams. Brazil, Spain, Germany... I need a surprise. We see that Argentina with Messi can do nothing, but there are only stars... We see how Croatia plays, Belgium is amazing, Nigeria is good, even my Russia makes 2 surprises, so... I just came back from the center of Saint Petersburg... Thousands Brazilians, fans from Peru, Columbia, Argentina, Belgium, UK... All cafe are full, people celebrate the victory over Costa Rica... I've never seen so many tourists here. I really like that people say: saint Petersburg is so beautiful, it;s much better than Moscow... I travel around the world and people have no idea about my city sometimes, in South America or Australia, for example. But now people are so happy here. I made so many photos. I must say if we had better government, we would have more tourists and more promotional, because my city ins the top 10 for sure, I can compare Rio, Paris, Rome, New York and etc... etc... it's worth to visit. Neil loved St Petersburg since his first visit in 1997, so I am happy people discover Russia without propaganda now.

I read an analysis yesterday, that said that Croatia are a very pragmatic and result-oriented team - even though they don't have any superstars or talents like Neymar in the team, every position is filled by an utter professional and they play great as a team.

I sincerely hope this will be the case this time out.

Got to say, Russia have put on a good show so far - must be amazing to be there.

Panama played pretty horribly, but there were some really sweet goals from England. The second half England got a bit lazy once Panama took that one goal back, and the substitutes were made. I'm not convinced they've got themselves out of that "let's score a couple of goals and then try to coast through the rest of the game, only to find we lose on penalties" syndrome, but putting those goals in at the start like that you'd hope would keep the momentum going.

Agree - we’ve played 2 average to poor teams so far. Thursday will be a better test against Belgium. I still think defensively we are unproven. I like the system Southgate plays - it’s more to player’s strengths.
