The Boys chose to cover Always on My Mind for an Elvis tribute show - at this point they weren't deciding between this and a Beatles song!!!
There was another option but obviously they went for the song from Elvis because of the show.
The other option they briefly considered was Elvis’s Baby Let’s Play House.
True, I though it was a song from The Beatles but not. The song was Let's Play House. That was the other option.

I said "I think".

The reason I think that way is just because TDEOTT is very well produced and with plenty of ochestral arrangments and details on it. It could have been working like a single perfectly. It's not the first time PSB try to choose between 2 songs to make a cover. When they did Always on my mind, they had to choose between that song and one song from The Beatles. Apart from that, Neil loves NLB and they think was a good song to be single, there is an obvious connection between that song ATYD so I suppose they decided this one was going to be the single.

I think Nickname is mixing up Always on my mind and Go West. Neil and Chris were originally considering performing The Beatles’ The Fool On The Hill at their Hacienda concert in 1992, but instead opted for Go West, at Chris’s instigation.
Always on my Mind had a second option, Go West had a second option and All the Young Dudes had another option: The Dark End of the Street. This time both songs were recording with a proper production. I think is a good song for single, you can even do an edit version of the song for radio easily.

nickname, I have it on good authority that they will be performing Schlager on Christmas Morning with Noel, which will be broadcast live on BBC1 from the Post Office Tower on (unsurprisingly) Christmas morning. This is a massive show in the UK, so I expect Schlager will be number one by the end of the year.

I agree TDEOTS would make a good single. Easy to edit down and it's made for an extended mix.

And they are also ending the show with their version of Fairytale of New York with Chris on lead and Neil doing Kirsty MacColls lines

That’ll definitely piss The Pogues off

And they've roped in Michael Flatley to do a Riverdance style extravaganza, it's gonna be epic!

And I believe gigantic statues of Neil and Chris will float down the Thames.

Just for giggles I am pushing "Schlager Hit Parade" to be included in my works Christmas playlist (along with IDOSAC of course)
Not sure if anyone vets them first, but lets see!

Maybe they could do a live where they sing and do rollers skate all over the scene, something they suggested they will never do.

So, getting this back on topic, I'd suggest Parlophone and Angela Becker have a plan well in place for 2025 already.

I'd suggest the "Nonetheless" phase is done and focus will be on keeping the momentum going during a non-album year(s). We already know there's more to come from the "since 1984" range and the Dreamworld DVD/BluRay mustn't be too far off. We know too that Annually 2025 is in the works (and should be a bumper issue given the past year activity).

I'm sure there's plenty being kept under wraps too, so I don't expect it to be an entirely quiet 2025 from the PSB camp.

Disco 5 - PSB extended mixes of all the Nonetheless singles + Adrenaleen and The Dark End of The Street. That would be the perfect flourish to end the Nonetheless campaign early next year.
