I think it's a good album to remember nowadays, before a Trevor Horn and PSB collaboration.
I have to say it's not a bad album, I think it's fair to say this album is a good album (6 out of 10).

When Unfinished Sympathy was recorded and released, Massive Attack were complete nobodies so I don't think they had a vast variety of choices for the lead vocals. It's not as if they could get *anyone* they wanted to sing it. So claiming that they prefered Sarah Nelson over other people as a way to prove she was a great vocalist, and better than Tina Turner is a bit silly in my opinion. She just happened to be around and was the best vocalist they could get at the time. Doesn't say that much, really.
Anyway, I've never had the slightest interest on Tina Turner but I can't see how all of a sudden people here have issues with her. She had a great voice, looked great for her age, even during her frightwig period and aged gracefully/retired while on top.

Well, perhaps I was exaggerating slightly.
Its just that, to my ears, Tina sounds like a cat in a food blender.

Well, I agree with most of what you're saying.
I do feel though that Nelson has a great voice, and I've never heard anyone before claim it let the track down. On the contrary, I feel it makes the song what it is. I don't even want to think about Tina screeching over the top.
As for ageing gracefully - well, see Eldritch's first post on the subject. I'm much inclined to agree.

Hehehehe, well... I do hear the quality of her voice. Perhaps you should listen to a full Macy Gray album? It will make you appreciate Tina
