Re: World Championship Snooker thread
Four world champions out, but only the demise of Robertson is any huge surprise. It's certainly opening up now. Selby and O'Sullivan are the logical finalists, with Trump's opportunity growing. I don't think anybody else can win it even though Murphy and Ding are landmines for the big three.
All of a sudden, the path to the final has become relatively straight-forward for Selby. From the harder side of the draw, some big names have evaporated. Realistically, only Ding stands in his way. Trump and O'Sullivan look set for a last four showdown, but Selby will only have to beat one of them if he gets to the final. He truly will forever be the bridesmaid if he can't win it this year.

I'd love to see Ding win it but can't help thinking he's not cut out for the long haul.

Selby on the way out - he just hasn't the bottle to be world champion. You'd say something if he was losing to the likes of Higgins, O'Sullivan, and Williams in these championships, but this will be the second year in a row he's been knocked out by that giant of the game, Barry Hawkins.
Nah, a flat-track bully, I'm afraid.

And Hawkins wasn't even playing great! Credit to him though for playing solid and having the bottle to put Selby out his misery.
It's wide open now, I'm really hoping Ronnie can find his long game and safety (making him unbeatable again) but even at 80% it looks like he'll beat most.
Could Michael White break through and take the mantle of best young buck from Judd? He's got a great chance of the final now.
Nobody playing out their skin yet but will be interesting to see who finds form and copes with the pressure.

Not a great fan of Trump but I really hope he puts Fu out. He's more boring than Peter Ebdon. No personality at all.

Yup, and Willie Thorne is just as bad.
I've realised that Eurosport have the matches on consecutive channels, easy for swapping over, is it just me or do we not have table option on BBC red button this year? Anyway, just had Neil Foulds co-commentating on Eurosprt and he's decent.
I gave up listening to Dennis some time ago, he is indeed full of shite.

Ding looks a very good bet for the final at the moment. Then you've got Ronnie vs. the winner of Murphy-Trump in the other half.Undertaker wrote:I'd love to see Ding win it but can't help thinking he's not cut out for the long haul.

Hmm, so it's Ronnie vs. Trump for the title then. Quite unbelievable what's happened in the other side of the draw.

Fantastic last frame tonight that Trump won against Murphy. 13-12, what a match! Snooker can be an amazing game sometimes with close games and it's stressful watching let alone playing!

Amazing safety exchanges, I'm not a fan of Judd but he showed patience and bottle when the heat was on.JSDOUVRES wrote:Fantastic last frame tonight that Trump won against Murphy. 13-12, what a match! Yeah that was proper Snooker and the BBC even stayed with it! Looks like Trump is finally learning how to be the complete player.JSDOUVRES wrote:Fantastic last frame tonight that Trump won against Murphy. 13-12, what a match! Can't believe Ding. If it was any other Chinese player, i'd have said that was thrown.
