Re: Pet Shop Boys - Volume
Has anyone here heard anything about Waterstones selling signed copies of the base edition? There’s a post on Reddit suggesting that they did and have already sold out.

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Volume
Dear Pet Shop Boys fan,
We are excited to let you know that copies of the Pet Shop Boys Volume limited edition are expected to arrive at our fulfilment hub at end of this week, with shipping commencing early next week. However, there have been some minor delays during sea transit, which may affect final delivery timings.
As a result, it’s possible that the general-release edition may be available before some limited editions arrive. Please rest assured that your preorder is secure, and we’re working to get your special copies to you as quickly as possible.
If you haven’t done so already, please check that your shipping address is correct: if any changes are needed, email our team at hello@vol.co. Please note that the comment section below is visible to everyone; do not share your address or personal details.
Thank you for your patience during this time. We can’t wait for you to receive your limited-edition copy of Pet Shop Boys Volume.

Thanks for this. Neil put it quite blunty in some interviews with thoughts along the line of ''We are never sold as sex objects'' and at one point he the same thing ''with few exceptions'' probably thinking of the early One More Chance release.DopeFiend wrote: Thu 19 Mar 2026, 11:08 am 'Pet Shop Boys: Holding the Body at a Distance' a write up by Andrew Groves to promote the book.

Really insightful piece. I like this idea of “managed visibility” as it feels absolutely central to Pet Shop Boys, and the article articulated it far more clearly than most retrospectives manage. The framing of graphic design and menswear as parallel systems is particularly sharp. It’s not just that Farrow gave them a look; he effectively created a structure that allowed identity to exist without relying on personality or exposure.DopeFiend wrote: Thu 19 Mar 2026, 11:08 am 'Pet Shop Boys: Holding the Body at a Distance' a write up by Andrew Groves to promote the book.

What’s striking is how consistent that logic has been. Whether it’s the tiny, almost withheld figures on Please, the formal anonymity of Actually, or the complete disappearance of the body on Very and Electric, it never feels like reinvention for its own sake. It’s variation within a controlled system. Even when the body returns—blurred on Nightlife or reduced on Fundamental—it’s still being carefully regulated rather than revealed.
The menswear point really lands too. Lowe’s cap and sunglasses are often read as eccentricity or detachment, but seen this way they’re part of the same mechanism as black tie: a way of standardising the body and limiting access to expression. It’s less about hiding and more about control.
And that’s probably what sets Neil and Chris apart. Most pop acts trade on access; emotional, personal, visual. Pet Shop Boys built a model where presence is constant but access is always conditional. As the piece says, it’s not just style, it’s a method and remarkably it's one they’ve never really abandoned.

I've posted a new topic about a brand new Word in your ear podcast with Neil in which he discusses the layout of the new Volume book. I think people are assuming it's the same podcast from before but it's not. It's brand new and a great listen.
