I am going to list NOT my favorite (Being boring), NOT the most beautiful (Miracles), NOT the most evocative (The Sodom and Gomorrah Show), NOT the best-written (Rent), but THE track that conjures up the duo for me (and which happens to be the track I *identify* with the most; it's almost as if it could be written by me, except I am a girl ).
it's Left to my own devices. it surely is the Ultimate PSB song!

For the people Go West: in every corner of the world during the football matches the supporters sing on the melody of Go West, it means that the track is very known.
For the fans: West End girls/It' a Sin

I will always maintain that West End girls is the ultimate and most essential PSB track. Without it, there is debatably no other singles off Please, or Please for that matter, and no everything afterward. It is known all around the world.
And though no one asked, I've always thought that Can you forgive her? is terribly overrated.
dVTB: It's funny, after having put Being Boring as my all-time favorite, I've been thinking about adding The Survivors which always moves me to tears. I really agree with you that it's an incredible song, and have been hoping to hear it live some day....maybe on this tour??
In the world history of (pop-)culture it's West End Girls, seriously. Without alternatives. I don't much like the song, but that is fact.
In my country, anyone except fans (but some fans as well!) is know Neil & Chris not because of the their names or talents, albums or other achievements, but for Go West song & video ("oh, they are these guys in orange suits and caps?"). I don't like it too. And sincerely i hate this kind of mention!

I sincerely hope so! Actually both songs have some things in common. Very rich melodies, perfect balance between music and lyrics and lyrics dealing with loved persons and issues of life and death. Both from a different perspective, but both in a fantastic way.
It's no big surprise that Neil later answered 'The Survivors' when someone asked which PSB song never was a single but should have been.
Was watching Pop Years on Sky recently and it was 1985. They got to the end and said "that's it, then well not quite, 1985 was the year that the Pet Shop Boys re-released West End girls etc, and the rest as they say is history".
I think therefore that it has to be West End girls, even though my personal favourite and the one that still does it for me is It's a sin.
). 
All in all, pointless indeed.
