Not even the skip button can save that track. It's an unwipeable stain on the album.
And the funny thing is that the remote control of my stereo doesn't even have a skip button! The player itself has a skip button, but not the remote. For some reason there are only the fast forward/back buttons. You have to type the track number, and as long as it's a one-digit track it's alright but when you want to skip let's say from track 11 to track 12... three pressings instead of one, what a waste of time!

Tell me, is there anybody else out there having a cd player remote without a skip button?
The most important button on a cd player, next to play...

There's no need to "redefine" anything unless you're prepared to make the staggeringly moronic assertion that every single boy in school is below the age of consent.
it just goes to show tennant had more sinister connotations to that last line than the whitewash presented here.
There is no "whitewash" being presented here and there's nothing "sinister" happening in the song itself. At any rate the song isn't from Tennant's own POV but rather a fictionalized and deliberately OTT version of an ostensibly heterosexual rock star, which is something you seem to keep ignoring and which completely undercuts the notion that sex with underage boys is being presented in an attractive and vindicated light.

I'm not ignoring anything, I'm just explaining to you the facts of life.

I think someone needs to explain to you that whole age of consent thing.
see, thats when a boy is now considered a man. before children reach it they are considered boys or girls. when they reach it, they are now considered a woman or a man.

thats why when I was in college and dorm buddy todd broderick after drinking did a header off the balcony and cracked his forehead the newspaper didnt say boy takes 12 foot fall, it said man did.

its no big deal.but I did take notice of the terminology.he used boy. the connotations of boy apply.neils old enough to know the route he took using that word.he wanted to.no big deal.

The age of consent is as low as the 10th grade. Yet we don't call high school juniors "men" on the whole. You may continue on with your fantasy world.

patrick.......PATRICK...... a boy... is not a man. a man....is not a boy.
one is considered still a child the other is considered an adult.regardless of consent neil used boy. a boy is not a man.

BTW I'm not some fuddy duddy, I dont care really about this topic only in as much to show that neil was trying to add a sort of creepy element to the song by having the kid in school.otherwise, why even bother with the school angle if he wasnt trying to be a bit blue and controversial.

I like the song a lot.

As for the "creepy" element.... well, it's a cultural truth that many children about to come of age do try to mix in society as adults... and sometime adults get caught out, or stupidly (/ criminally) ignore the possibility that the person might be underage.

Not trying to defend people who deliberately prey on near-adults.... but at the same time, it might be unfair to label this song creepy! IMO

Anyway, straight rap culture is nearly obsessed with school girls. For some, it only becomes offensive when it's gay men involved :)

So basically you believe that a kid in 10th grade is a "man" if he is at the age of consent. I'm sure you're worldly enough to understand that most people would disagree with that assertion. High school = "boy" to most.

But if you live on a planet where "men" go to high school then more power to you.

Okey doke, Neil is just adopting this "pedophile" persona, no doubt about it, why deny it? No need to question what's obvious, anybody here living in confinement or s.thing? It’s just one of his fantasies put into action, I mean, put into music.

Cos the character he is personifying is not the pedophile in the story

if anything you are now in agreement with me, that nobody of school age is quite a man.hence the "late for school" mixed with neils interview description of the chracter being a boy is what makes this an iffy storyline for me.

I dont care what the age of consent is technically and thats not even getting into canada's. this is what makes neils description of the character as a boy a kinda sinister connotation. a rap star bedding some highschool poontang.

...which only makes sense if you object to the age of consent. Glad we sorted that out.

You must hate an awful lot of heterosexual rock music...

How can this song be a "sinister connotation" ?

Neil is conveying nothing but empathy for a young character who, through the naivety of youth, is optimistic about love .... and unsuspecting of other peoples interests only for sex.

That's the exact opposite to a "sinister connotation"

Yet, if a rap artist wrote a song "The Night I Busted Some School Bitch Booty" ... sure most people would object - but somehow it would not be outside their heterosexual comfort zone --- which is why some (not all) people hate this song

Again, this song is not about Neil preying on a school kid. You are *chosing* to read that into it. If anything, it is a *response* to an older man being wreckless with a younger person's heart ... and lets not forget that younger person commits suicide as a result.... hardly erotic.

first off I am not saying neil is preying on a school kid. I am saying his rap character had a one night stand with a school boy.

also another thing I am going by is the article I want to see if I can dig up where I read neil explained and said he changed the original last verse to imply something creepy to the song.

I am not sure he used the word creepy or sinister, but what he said implied that.I know I read it. its just a matter of finding it.

BTW you lost me at the part about the suicide.

oh yeah of course, I thought you were talking about a suicide in NIFIL.
for 2 seconds I actually thought is it possible I've listened to this track like 50 times and never noticed a fourth verse?
