I for one don't trust a site that's design has that "looked outdated in 1997" stamp on it and which has "Wolrd (sic) Wide Albums Sales" as a headline.

Besides, it states that The Back Room by Editors has sold 420 000 copies, whereas the recent Q said the sales were around 800 000 copies. This is therefore a good comparison point with Fundamental. And a one which makes Fundie look very good, since Back Room was a big sleeper hit in 2005-06.

Can you tell me which issue of Q gave this date? I've read the last issue but it doesn't speak about PSB, only a short review of Cubism.

If you read my sentence again, you'll notice that I was referring to The Back Room by the Editors. That figure was quoted from their album review.

Çertainly agree with the design. Hopelessly amateurish...
The CELL by Stephen King instantly hit number 1 in New York Times Bookseller Lists selling well over 200 thousand copies in three weeks. This affirms my opinion: People really need an occassional good horror read...

Is it just me or is the link to that site no longer working? Maybe the record companies have got wind and shut it down. I must say it seemed odd that a completely independant site (albeit a rather shoddy one) had such exact figures for sales from a myriad of artists on different labels. Record companies are coy about sales at the best of times, so this guy either had some pretty good contacts or he was making a lot of it up.

Try the second link, not the first one...it is the first one that does not appear to work

Which is simply like that because of the "," at the end of the first link...

Today the administrator of that site has written a @-mail to me saying that the sellings of Fundie are between le 408.000 and 438.600 copies. If one day there will be again the chance to send questions for PSB to publish on Literally, this is for sure the mine
To me, this figure sounds about right. Record slaes given by labels and artists are notoriously inflated. Usually when I hear two widely different sales figures for a project, I tend to believe in the lower figure, due to this phenomenon. I also believe that the figures quoted for Nightlife and Release in this thread are inflated.

If I'd had to guess purely based on chart positions, longevity and the state of PSB's success I'd guess that the last three albums had done something like:

Nightlife: 750.000
Release: 500.000
Fundamental: 450.000
There is a difference between 'units shipped' and 'units sold'.

Certified sales awards are based on units SHIPPED.

Nighlife has shipped 1.2m
Release 750k
Fundamental about 800k

The administrator of www.havenforum.co.k told me that Fundie has sold in Uk only 65000 copies so I think that it's possible only 430000 copies worldwide :( :(

Sorry, but all these sources are a bit shady. I don't believe any of it.

I don't know if it's true but if an album is stayed only four weeks in top100 it's hard that it had done better than 60000 copies.
