I think Jackie Brown suffered because it was his follow-up to Pulp Fiction, and people probably expected another tour-de-force instead of a movie that is more subtle, not as in your face. It's an amazing movie, though.

Yeah. I don't necessarily like a lot of QT's stuff, but "Jackie Brown" is a gem. A subtle gem, as you say. And , I honestly do admire him for that. After "Pulp Fiction", he could've made any movie he wanted to, huge budget, with any movie star, he only had to ask. And he decided to make this smoky 70's noir with the wonderful Pam Grier, not necessarily marketable in a huge way. I will always admire him for that. And, "Jackie Brown" to me is definitely his best movie. Layers and layers, striking characterizations, great supporting cast. Great film, you have good taste.
