Don't worry, it was a good idea! I did the same. Very much looking forward to it. Just hope the shipping of the items is more efficient than for Annually.fac23 wrote: Thu 26 Jul 2018, 5:03 pm Add me to the herd of impulse limited edition buyers. Not so sure this was a good idea now, some 5 minutes later. I like the general idea though.

Re: Neil Tennant announces new book
Agreed - I’d take new material over any of this.ArtHist wrote: Thu 26 Jul 2018, 4:32 pmI'm not judging the fans whatsoever but we'd all prefer new material- be it written, musical or performative. Producing a book of lyrics which have been accessible to everyone for years is like something a marketing team would come up with. They're at risk of becoming the George Lucas of music- exhausting pre-existing product to scrape the barrel for what is lucre rather than making an artistic statement.Pod wrote: Thu 26 Jul 2018, 4:14 pmI think you’re right and by my own admission I am one of those who buys it - rightly or wrongly. Mind you, I love that lithograph from yesterday at the ROH.ArtHist wrote: Thu 26 Jul 2018, 1:08 pm Their output these days seems to consist of autographed 'stuff'. I understand everyone needs a pension pot but I find all these re-releases, Further Listenings) and signed lithographs just a cynical ploy to fleece the diehards. I know no one is forcing anyone to buy these things but slapping a 'limited edition' tag onto a product doesn't necessarily mean it's a quality product. Their Catalogue book was definitely a worthwhile endeavour and no doubt lined the pockets of deserving individuals such as Eric Watson et al but this latest product.....meh.
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning.

I’d say it’s analogous to the Jarvis Cocker one.popfreak wrote: Thu 26 Jul 2018, 10:28 am I don’t quite understand the reason behind this book. Who is it aimed at ? Are fans going to buy it just because it’s a Psb item? Is your average music fan going to buy it when all the lyrics are readily available on the psb site ?

They could sell 500 signed 1 track CDRs with an unreleased remix for $200 a pop.
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

No hesitation whatsoever this is going to be rare at only 500 limited editions printed. Purchased.

I'm excited about this - looks very interesting. And I was briefly considering buying the ltd edition, in the US it's at USD 100 which I might be willing to pay, but then I realized that they're charging 41 USD for delivery - which is ridiculous. So I'll be buying the basic version for 18 USD.....

I also ordered the limited edition. Laugh, mock, be appalled...I don't care.
A beautifully presented, nicely bound book containing lyrics from my favourite lyricist of over 30 years and signed by the author? I'd have been mad not to. What a lovely thing to own.

Historical on so many levels. I purchased the limited edition too. Worth it given it's autograph and I get to read those deep lyrics in book-format for the rest of my life. Wow! I'm excited.

When the tickets go on sale tomorrow for Neil's book event, you can also buy the book in advance for £10, or buy on the night. Bargain.

Just went for the regular hardback. I’m assuming this will be presented very nicely, (so) hard to tell from the jpeg.
