Re: Pet Shop Boys it’s a sin
I think the both seasons were educational and important because no one still knows for sure: criminal or mentally ill? A psychopath in real life is rarely a half god like Hannibal Lecter, but then there was Adolf Hitler. The Mendez brothers were almost pardoned after the show aired, proves what a difficult area this is. Next up the historic case of the archtype creep like Norman Bates was, raised by his cuckoo mother, was he a predator or a victim?
This is all very progressive and enlightening, great that Neil and Chris are a part of it.

Probably everyone remembers Neil and Chris were stalked by a religious fanatic woman back in the 90's, seriously distressed over homosexuality. She must be catatonic now. Or did she perhaps learn something? Ed Gein's mother made me think of her.

2nd time at number one might refer to the Brit Awards collaboration. It wasn’t a hit on the normal “sales chart”, but topped the “Official Big Top 40” which is made up from UK independent radio plays and Apple data.

Well, if this doesn’t just prove mr blues point, I don’t know what does.ahafan02 wrote: Fri 24 Oct 2025, 11:50 pmGet over it.MisterBlue wrote: Wed 24 Sep 2025, 1:37 pm I don't want to start a controversy here, I just need to express how I feel about this:
We are now swimming in a flood of "True Crime" shows, docs and podcasts the platforms are constantly pouring down on us. It really disturbs me.
Reading the comments under the YouTube trailer for this one made me cringe: Most viewers are getting ready for a really good bit of gruesome fun...
I always loved horror and thrillers, don't get me wrong. But this particular sort of content is turning real-life pain and suffering into entertainment, without any regards for the (real) victims, and with a tendancy to turn (real) murederers into tragic figures we need to understand better... To me this is a problem. Maybe this shouldn't be entertainment.
Watching these, either we are so desensitized we forget it actually happened to real people, or, worse, the "True Story" aspect adds to the frisson, which says even darker things about human nature.
I don't know what saddens me the most : the cynicism of the media who produce these contents, or the fact that they invariably gain a huge audience, proving the platforms are right, economically speaking, to produce ever more.
I love the PSB, and I know they have a strong sense of ethics. Why they thought it was ok to take part in this, I don't know, but I must say I'm really surprised and to be honest, quite disappointed to find them here.

This is from Wikipedia for Years and Years & Elton John Version:tottenhammattspurs wrote: Wed 05 Nov 2025, 8:07 amWasn’t number one on the official uk charts. In fact it only got to number 47.
"It's a Sin" debuted at number 57 on the UK Singles Chart and at the top of The Official Big Top 40"
What does that mean? Is there another chart?

“The official big top 40” isn’t actually the OFFICIAL uk top 40 chart. It’s the chart compiled by commercial radio stations based purely on radio play. It used to be called the “network chart” and also had weird outliers and anomalies over the years.

Ed Gein frenzy has calmed down and Youtube views returned to usual levels while they are still above the average (550,000 views a day). It's a sin has now surpassed West End girls as the most popular PSB video on a day to day basis, but the latter remains at the top overall (though the gap is closing steadily).
