I got the email today from Warner Bros & I've entered!!!DopeFiend wrote: Fri 30 Sep 2022, 12:50 am There's a pet text, they'll be giving away 4 signed set lists through a competition.
We haven't had a competition in a while!
I love how this incorporates New Order in a way, because New Order have a tradition of giving out set lists at the end of their concerts. (It's happened in the multiple times I've seen them live and fans on their forum often post about it)
Set lists of course being a print out of the tracks to be performed so the band know what is next. My favourite part of them is they tend to abbreviate the song titles, for instance Bizarre Love Triangle is BLT in their setlist.
With PSB they'll call You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk just Drunk.
Anyway we'll what the specific details are later, and who knows if someone here will win.

New Order performed a cover of California Dreaming at the Hollywood Bowl gigs, having never done it before.
Why can't PSB do exciting things like that.
Interesting nonetheless.

They most certainly have done stuff like that in the past. Like Bruce Springsteen's "Philadelphia" during the Uni Tour and then sometimes on the related Release Tour. And then of course, even though the recorded it, Madness' "My Girl" during the latter part of the Pandemonium Tour. What others?DopeFiend wrote: Tue 11 Oct 2022, 4:06 pm New Order performed a cover of California Dreaming at the Hollywood Bowl gigs, having never done it before.

Didn't they also do Glad All Over in Blackpool during the Pandemonium Tour..? My mind may be playing tricks...
There is beauty in ugliness and ugliness in beauty.

I’m sure I remember them cover Do Anything You Wanna Do
by Eddie and the Hot Rods in Middlesbrough on the Uni tour but I have never seen any confirmation of this and I often think I may have dreamt it.

New Order’s California Dreamin sounds a bit ropey though. And a cliched idea.
Woof.
Re: New Pet Shop Order Boys
I’ve not seen mention here but anyone else digging the small instagram reels both PSB and New Order have been posting on occasion?
My favourites are
- Brooklyn / It couldn’t happen here
- LA / Kings Cross

That's so interesting we only just drew attention to these clips they've been posting and then this happens.
It's not every day PSB put out an unrelease demo for us to hear.
As for the actual track... What's everyone's thoughts?
It's not great is it..
It sounds like the Fluorescent Indio/Cali mixes, or like Inner Sanctum.
If this is a demo, I feel it needs at least 5 stages of being recreated and produced in order to sound acceptable.
Not to be too negative, but it sounds a bit like a midi ringtone, sounds cheap.
A good piece of music you want to savour each individual sound. This one sounds like it was made on a kid's toy or a free download smartphone app.
Hoping the EP doesn't sound like this, generic unce-unce doof doof music with maybe some light arpeggios and strings in the BG.
These days if you listen to the music that trends on Tik Tok for instance, it's all about having a catchy melody with the minimal amount of instruments and layers. That's what I want PSB to do. This demo is the polar opposite, no tune or melody and just generic "noise" to fill a space.
I suppose context is everything. It's meant to be filler music.
And they posted KDX 125 before this one, so I imagine it's meant to be in the same vein.
