Re: Israeli air strikes
OK, so apparently I'm a Nazi?
I'd probably say that you were nearer to being put in that bracket being from a country that was involved in something called the Armenian genocide but the million or so people murdered were just victims of war weren't they? You just keep telling yourself that and maybe one day you'll believe it's true.
Here's a quote about how Armenians were treated: "Massacres were indiscriminate of age or gender, with rape and other sexual abuse commonplace". Victims of war?
But we know how Muslims like you deny things such as this and the Holocast because they include a race of people that you see as "inferior" and "insignificant". Were the Armenians not Christians and treated as second class citizens? "Gavours" as they were known.
Yes, the world knows very well that that was a Genocide so if anybody is a Nazi then it's you my friend.
So please, judge yourself and your own country before others, but you won't like it obviously. You are the one whose country has been involved in the second biggest Genocide of the last century so please don't lecture us.
And do your best to accept that people of all race and religion are equal, or would that be against the rules of your "special book"?

Re: Israeli air strikes
It is good that more people are looking at this issue.
But with participation comes responsibility to know the background and what is going on now.
Most of us, including myself want peace for Israel and justice for the Palestinians.
However, at least since the 1980's conservative governments in Israel, have been opposed to peace.
They believe there is more to be gained by constant warfare.
In particular this permits the technical genocide of the Palestinians.
While we are made well aware of Palestinian atrocities, many people are not aware of events like the
Sabra and Shatila massacre in 1982, to the war crimes carried out during the invasion of Gaza.
Also for several decades Israel has been destroying Palestinian homes and seizing Palestinian land,
blockading the entrances to Palestinian shops, cutting off water to Palestinian farmers and
blowing up any improvements (like dams)they build. This is not a football match ; this is genocide
and it has been on our television sets daily, week after week, month after month, year after year, for literally decades. Decades !
Israel is occupying and wants to keep Palestinian land. Palestinians are not on Israeli land.
Hence Israel is the side that does not want peace.
No one in the West has any excuse for not understanding this evil is the root cause of
Muslim-Western tension.
The blockade of Gaza now, has nothing to do with weapons. It is about cutting off food, medicine,
materials to rebuild destroyed homes, soap, toothpaste. It is about hatred.
The Israeli army has a culture of hatred towards anyone, including the UN that they believe
is not on their side. This manifests itself in regular breaches of human rights and the Geneva
Convention, yet nothing is done.
The problem is that some people in the West who do not understand that Israel has total military
dominance and immunity from prosecution, perceive Israel as the victims. This is criminal ignorance.
It is well know by insiders, that there will be a peace settlement with Palestine formed on the 1967 border.
The sticking point to this is the Al aqsa mosque in Palestinian East Jerusalem. Radical Israelis want to destroy it and rebuild the
Jewish temple. Radical US Christians want this to happen as they believe it will bring the return
of Jesus Christ to earth and the "End of Times" as predicted in the bible. Before you scoff, consider
that at least two people in George Bush's cabinet belonged to churches that believed this.
So before defending Israel, ask yourself do you defend the technical genocide of the Palestinians
over the last 30 years ? And do you really want to maintain the War of Terror simply because
some Jewish and Christian fanatics want to destroy the Al aqsa mosque ?
And look at ones own words : are you sure you are not moved by hatred also ?
Most people including Israelis and Palestinians, and us here, want peace.
Do not join in the hatred of the conservatives that exist on all sides.
There can be no peace for Israel with out justice for the Palestinians.
There can be no justice for the Palestinians without peace and security for Israel.

Ahh, you see I've never denied that my country of any other country has never been involved in any war or whatever you want to call it, and you see I live in 2010, in a country where people of all backgrounds are free. Something you will never understand or could ever accept because you see non muslims as "inferior". So please don't lecture me about history when your own country has been involved in one of the biggest disgraces of modern history. Although of course because it was Turkey it must have been justified and couldn't have been wrong. That's called deluded. I won't be denying or confirming any of your pathetic accusations because doing so would be missing the point entirely. Try to live in the modern world and accept everybody for who they are, although you have to follow a "special book" so I can understand it's difficult for you.....Pity.GalataPSB wrote:JSDOUVRES wrote: And do your best to accept that people of all race and religion are equal, or would that be against the rules of your "special book"?

Re: Israeli air strikes (MOD WARNING P. 23)
I never believe any of this Israel commiting genocide stuff. Israel has tanks....fighter bombers....attack helicopters....troop transports....troops with good gear.
whats all this pussyfooting around if they are so brutal. why show any restraint. if anything they are continually putting up with these people to their own loss.who would stop them? Iran and syria? Israel would defeat them before their afternoon matzah ball soup got cold.
I also take note how some critics use the terminology the Israeli are the new nazi.its a tactic by anti-semetic people who are irritated about hearing about the holocaust and any sympathy for the jews so they think they can reverse all that history by sayin the Israeli are the nazi.
the nazi had the military might...and they used it full force. the Israeli have it, yet they restrain themselves. thats very telling about the mindset of the Israeli government.

Re: Israeli air strikes (MOD WARNING P. 23)
So people like you can go on Internet forums and ask questions like "If they are so brutal, why show any restraint?". It's bad PR if you go all out to brutalise a population, and if you can achieve pretty much the same result by showing "restraint" then it's much easier for your allies to defend you.glennjridge wrote:I never believe any of this Israel commiting genocide stuff. For what it's worth, I don't buy the "Israel are the new Nazis" line, that kind of hyperbole simultaneously exaggerates the situation in the Middle East and denigrates the victims of the Nazi regime.
Rather, the Israeli government is closer in spirit and application to the apartheid government of South Africa. Unfortunately, there appears to be no Palestinian equivalent of the ANC on the horizon.

Apparently I am too.JSDOUVRES wrote:OK, so apparently I'm a Nazi?
My speciality is 20C history and I know a great deal about WW2, the Nazis and the Holocaust.
For the record, I am passionately against racism (including anti-Semitism), intolerance of any
type, and ignorance of any type.
I encourage Israel to make peace as an act of kindness. How does encouraging a friend's
hatred, paranoia and psychosis help that friend ?
Rational presentation of facts is only met with insult here, something I have never done.
It is all rather sad.
And while pro-Israeli's here present her with a "Darwin Award", I for one, will remember Rachel Corrie with respect.

Re: Israeli air strikes
Fair enough gregf, it just sickens me to think that there are people out there so one minded with a bias based on religion and nothing rational. It is a very sad world out there and the attitude of some people is very scary. Do we not all want peace for mankind above religion? I don't know sometimes.gregf wrote:Apparently I am too.JSDOUVRES wrote:OK, so apparently I'm a Nazi?![]()

To summarise, Captain America...The Israeli government, they should murder the life out of all the Palestinian children, too young to know any better, to stop any attempt when they are older.
