I was just wondering... So the listeners want more guitars, but on the other hand they don't mind BIG pop. Hm. Now I wonder why they (listeners) don't mind Madonna but would mind (for example) Minimal. I mean, IMO it's usually more the radio that gets people used to some new song by playing it, than that people are used to a current song (not thru airplay) and request it to be playlisted, or?gareth wrote:I said "more guitar based" - not "totally guitar based" - and yes they do play Madonna, because she is a global mega star in a way PSB never will be. End of story.Tomas wrote:Does that station playlists lets say (no-guitars) Madonna?gareth wrote:support from many of the regional commercial stations - which PSB just don't get any more. Many of these stations (I know this from my local station which is massive) are moving across to a more guitar-based playlist because, quite simply, that's what their listeners want.
I played the album to the head of music at the local station (I do a lot of sponsorship work with them) and the only track he would consider playlisting - Numb. So maybe the next single isn't dead!

It's not in the top 75. Although that wasn't expected really.Eldritch wrote:Doesn't anybody have the album placing for this week? It would be interesting to see if the continuing airplay and tv advertising have had any effect at all on the album sales.Undertaker wrote:Minimal has gone back up to 22 in the airplay chart, for anyone who wants to know!

Unfortunately the listeners actually get very little choice really - moving towards a more guitar based playlist because the listeners like it is not an indication that they wouldn't like Minimal for example as they never get to hear it on their favourite station. It is also a reaction to the local dance / R&B based stations and differentiates the two. I personally feel that a track like Minimal sits somewhere between them in no mans land!Tomas wrote:gareth wrote:I said "more guitar based" - not "totally guitar based" - and yes they do play Madonna, because she is a global mega star in a way PSB never will be.
