*posting a PM to Techno to complain about another unfunny joke*
I suggest everyone with a minute or two on their hands go now through all the threads to which Bigboy or Techno 'contributed' (that will be easy -- pick up ANY thread) and post PMs to both complaining about their feelings. I'm free tomorrow evening, and maybe I'll be free this evening as well -- there's enough to keep me busy for hours. Bigboy, Techno -- you need a PM, a PM you will get.
My Inbox is already crammed with PM's of both praise and disgust. Maybe those of you sending me PM's of disgust weren't brought up in a democratic civilised society!
To be honest I've found the board lately quite funny and the best it's been in a while. However, I come here more to talk to people, rather than about the Pet Shop Boys. I can only assume most of my posts have been made in the OT section of the forum. But I can understand people complaining about how some PSB posts have become a stage for certain posters to have fun and totally ignore the topic. However, if 15 of us were all in line for a Pet Shop Boys concert and lets say Greendrake asked a question about the Pet Shop Boys, but 5 minutes later Big Boy was being a smart ass, and Undertaker was talking politics and football and Technotrancemix was talking about being ripped off and Morgan Girl was talking about some new music she wants us to hear and Satanas was laughing like a maniac, I really don't think anyone would mind. They would call it "normal conversation". No one would be mad. Greendrake wouldn't be pissed that we were no longer talking about the PSB. I think everyone would be happy that us as fans were together, hanging out and having a good time talking about what we know. Soooooo, why are we so pissed when things go off topic on line then? Or have I missed the point entirely of Steves slightly vague post?
Secondly, I will change my sig after this post is made. Satana's posts do irritate me with the smileys and craziness but I'm used to her now and shouldn't single her out. In fact, the less attention I draw to her the better, IMO, as she's done a fine job on her own. Anyone else notice she's avoided this topic completely? I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she's not online yet.
Thirdly, moderation. When we all hopped over to Aimoo it was to get away from crazy moderation. Since then people's feelings have been hurt, people have left, people post racism, cursing, homophobia, stupidity (LOTS of stupidity, myself included) and you really never know what to expect. At NO time has this place EVER been pure clean fun. EVER! So why now of all times is this place taking a "nosedive"? Because Big Boy and Technotrance have private but yet quite funny conversations in the middle of people's precious topics? OH NO! Wow, how terrible. Get a grip people. If you don't understand the personality of this forum yet then you never will, so leave so the rest of us can enjoy this place. Otherwise, my suggestion to the moderators is to not pick on a couple chosen people and either set strict guidelines now for everyone, or continue to allow this place to be unpredictable. Either way, I will stay here and continue having fun. IMO, not since Durst has there been anyone so off course that they should be banned. I've learned to deal with the hills and valleys of this place and I like being in an atmosphere where more or less anything goes. However recently I joined a wrestling forum where the rules are VERY strict and to be honest it's nice too, because people really just post wrestling, no jokes, no jabs at each other. But that's what I like about this place, the freedom to joke around. Every forum has a personality, remember that.
Lastly, I'd like to say bravo once again as Brooklyn's avatars never seem to disappoint. Good job.

Look at the post count and you will see you contribute a lot more crap on here than me. Infact look at this thread. A handful of people back you. The other 99% are bored with you going on. Maybe it is my age, and that I come from a background where one respected people in authority. While I agree that there often is only so much you can say about a Topic issue, and some small remark will bring a few 'comedy' replies. Another type of IMO remark brings a torrent of aggressive replies. I do think that once the Topic has dried up on all reasonable comments.. and where deviation from subject is reduced to anatomic, below the waste, and totally off topic comments..then MAYBE at that point.. the banter should be taken up into the Off Topic area, and continued there!
However, the person who started the Topic could, I pressume, ask a moderator to LOCK the topic if it starts to vanish into oblivion.
I, too, believe in Freedom of speech... However, I also believe that we all need to abide by certain 'life skill' rules too! This Forum carries a set of Forum Rules, they look like common sense to me. We are not asked to sign in blood that we won't break the rules! I think each of us is responsible for our actions and deeds. I also think certain replies would best be put into a PM ( for techno's benefit I mean a Private Message) rather than ON the main thread.
Actions have consequences, therefore, if the quite flexible Rules of the Forum (so they appear to me, and I am fair new here!) get bent out of shape by anyone..including ME then I know that there are Moderators here who will give me a 'warning'. Just because this is a FREE internet site, and we are not sat around in a plush lounge a few feet away from each other... should not mean that we can behave / misbehave like a bunch of unsupervised 10 yr olds!
Life just isn't like that, and damn near every thing we do from being born to being buried at death,,is governed by a set of rules!
For some to say 'what right has a moderator, or the site owner, to impose Rules.. sorry but I think they do have a Right..its their bloody site after all.
If this were a 'work' place, there would be line-managers ... if it were University there would be student leaders and seniors...all with a bunch of Common sense rules that we ought to respect. That's how life is!
