There is some interesting anthropological studies going around on the relationship
between humankind and dogs.

It is suggested that when dogs first started living with humans, that people kept the
dogs with the most human facial features, and the most loyal and loving behavior.

Dogs then supplied acute hearing and sense of smell which meant humans did not need
these abilities, and that they devolved in humans. The decrease in brain processing for
sound and smell then allowed humans brains to improve other skills such as language.

Also it is suggested that the strong family instincts of dogs, influenced humans to behave
in a similar way with thir own families and tribe. In a way, dogs made man in their own image.

The theories tend to hang on the timeline that dogs started to live with humans. If it was as little
as 10,000 years ago, then there is not enough time to effect human evolution. If it was 20,000 or
even up to 50,000BC then these theories gain weight. There is also a suggestion that modern man
who replaced Neanderthals in Europe, may have had dogs, when the Neanderthals did not.

there was a writer who noted his perception of the difference beteen dogs and cats, he said, dogs will lay in your lap because they love you and want to be close to you....a cat will because he is cold.
