And the "critical thinking" here is what in your view, that Ukraine should roll over and accept an invasion? I'm continually shocked that a group as erudite and sophisticated as PSB has so many ignorant rubes among its fans.

I think the only bit I like is where the energy picks up at the end, starting with "there's no defeat, that I'll answer for" and Neil is really projecting his voice. But, in opinion it's ruined by the word effete. What does that even mean??????
All the good PSB songs from the 80's have simple words, and in my opinion that's part of what makes them good.

This is a song is an observation on a bleak topic, sure. A bit like Shopping, Kings Cross, The last to die, and quite a few others.

He's rhyming "past" as a noun with "past" as an adjective - it's the typical Tennant cleverness at play.

I personally love it when Neil writes from the perspective of psychopaths. This is the next chapter in the dictator anthology (after Delusions, Dictator Decides, Stupidity).
