I some respects I have to agree with the piece - PSB have become a little too obsessed with matters outside of their political wheelhouse. Where are the biting songs about Conservative Britain for the past XXX years - BOJO, Brexit (Schlager probably is that song I suppose), Parties during lockdown, political scandals?

Some of Neil's best stuff was on Thatcher and Tony Blair but still UK-centric. I understand why he feels strongly about Trump and Putin, and they've made it clear in texts how they feel about Brexit and Europe, but it doesn't seem to be reflected in their songs so much now.

I'm sure someone will prove me wrong and pull at least 10 examples off the top of their heads now.

Overall though I do NOT agree with this opinion piece. It's pretty clear what Neil's saying in BFN, and Morrissey doesn't factor into any of it.

After reading this, the Super Soaraway Sun might make a pleasing brain floss. The Mozza connection is from the writer's previous article about the "Loneliness" single and Nonetheless in general, in which he postulated that BFN was about "a song that may be about Morrissey weathering cancel culture". Talk about missing your mark!
