Here's hoping (as always) for The loving kind.

I would be curious to hear a demo or early/alternate version of Vocal that Neil spoke of that's more downbeat.
This is, without doubt, the worst collection of remixes we have ever been subjected to (yes, even worse than Liberation IMHO). What a load of old parp. I can usually pick at least one mix with some redeeming qualities, but not with these. Terrible.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I simply want a PSB extended version and some b sides.

Call me crazy, but I'm not entirely certain that the "removed link" was illegal. The site seems to have been around far too long and to be focused just on mixes that are serviced to DJs, ala those which Pro/Motion issued a little while back. Do a search on "Did You See Me Coming?" if you're skeptical.

I understand it's a case of "safety first", but given the number of PSB mixes of Vocal and Axis (in high-res MP3, otherwise unavailable for sale) on that site, it might be worth a bit of a background check on the site's validity rather than remove all reference to it, because it WOULD be great to be able to share these openly amongst PSB fans if indeed it is legitimate. I'd suggest these tracks have been probably been provided by Kobalt themselves for promotional purposes... I think this might just be how you cost-effectively "service" DJs nowadays, particularly when so many seem to run off MP3 players and any promo CDRs DJs receive seem to get flogged on eBay.

Retro. :)
Good point Retro! Thanks for mention this side of view!
The problem is as follows: Officials don't will check websites of it's legality, because they only want to "get money", "want to have contacted the advocate" or "simply don't have the time to get deeper into the problem"!
So the result always is:

- check the guy, who's sitting behind the domain (http://www.petshopboys-forum.com)
- sending him an show cause order or somethings similar
- bringing him trouble, so he have to react and is busy for some time

In the end the domain owner always have the trouble, because the opposite side always want "money" or want things to "put down". It doesn't matter for them, what a domain owner have to say. So as a "private person" you always will get bills you don't want to pay or getting trouble for "nothing" you always need to get prooved!

So regardless how such a case would went, we decited to put a "don't post links to obviously copyrighted material in your posts" rule in our forum rules! Just to prevent us from getting mails from keen officials, who think "they're dictators" and loving to play with you like a sheet in the wind!

I must agree. Why do they release them cause I'm pretty sure most of them doesn't work on the dance floor and the ones that do doesn't even resemble the original so much that anyone can hear it's Vocal. What's the point? Shouldn't it be easy for PSB to get some better remixes from bigger names? Still hoping for other remixes on the "single"...

Whilst I'm not sure I agree that these are the worst set of remixes for a PSB single to date, I have to admit they are easily the dullest. I wouldn't waste my time listening to them again. Shame.

These mixes are mostly done for the dance floor, so its the endelses discussion, with "why are they not more like the original" Well then they wouldn't get played in(most) clubs. A lot of people who are fans of the Pet Shop Boys don't really like dance music, so its no surprise that most of their remixes gets slagged of.

You're 100% correct.

... and we go through the same issues every time a new single comes out.

Play the remixes louder before dismissing them all...

don't forget that the instrumental IS getting played in clubs, so remixes need to offer something a little different - which these do, some quite successfully

What about those Fritz Von Runte remixes? As he wrote on soundcloud they are commissioned by PSB. So two official mixes more?

Dance music and Pop music remixes are fundamentally different things, to me, and pulling off the latter can be much more difficult than the former. I can think of very few pop music remixes that I like.

That said, Vocal leans much more towards "Pop Trance" or "Vocal Trance" than straight pop so I was expecting more successful remixes than those of, say, Winner.
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

I know off others (from a music forum I'm at) that remixed Vocal and haven't heard anything from them, no rejection or otherwise so there is more remixes to choose from so if these were their choice and no more is to be released I'm a bit disappointed.

I thought Vocal was crying out for an old school remix, as somone mentione don here, replacing the rave synths with paino and going old house. these all sound terrible -not that I;ve heard them yet.

I have to admit that Vocal has grown on me so much that it IS actally pretty perfect as it is.

BTW the best Pink noise mix is Morel's Stoning of Steven (pink noise vocal mix) TOTALLY amazing
