PSB Auction went bad. Don't trust muaddib18!

I had the worst experience on Ebay and I like to share with you.

The Ebay user muaddib18 was selling New York city boy Japan promo and I contacted him to negotiate a lower price. We agreed in U$ 250 and he would stop the auction so I could pay him and then, he would send it to me.

The thing is, the CD NEVER arrived… and it’s been more than 2 months now. I mean, after 2 months the probability I get my hands on that CD is almost zero.

At that meantime when I asked him about the registration number or any paper that could help me (us) tracking the CD, he just told me he hadn’t had anything. So… did he really sent me the CD?

Anyway, the seller is totally responsible for the items he sells. The buyer only has to guarantee the money and the seller has to deliver the good as described. He never gave me an option on insurance or tracking or anything.

After 2 months and a few concerned emails, I asked for a refund and he said he understood my situation, but he would keep the money for himself!!! I mean, he stole my money!!! Plus, I’ve asked at least a partial refund of 50%, so we could both lose equally. And he just stopped answer me.

It’s clear to me muaddib18 is a dishonest person and just want to profit regardless other people. He’s a thief.

Anyway, I have to blame myself for being stupid and make a transaction outside Ebay with a dishonest person.

At least I’m warning everyone not to make any transaction outside Ebay, specially with a thief like muaddib18.

while not wanting to doubt you, how do you know that the seller never sent the cd, i dont always get a tracking number when i post something. how did you pay, if it was via paypal or credit card or similar then perhaps you could get a refund via them somehow.

I just bought my other half a pair of Timberlands from Ebay that never arrived and the user is no longer registered. Paid by Paypal and therefore opened a dispute - the money was refunded to my account yesterday as they recovered it from the seller.

It is ALWAYS safer to complete the transactions within Ebay as you say, and as you have learned.

Have you requested his / her contact details from Ebay? They supplied me with telephone numbers for my dodgy seller?

Sorry you've been stitched up - we've all learned this lesson one way or another!

I never said he didn't send. I wonder if he didn't. Anyway, the sequence of facts is very suspicious...

Plus, for U$ 250, I think I should get a little caring with the item I bought. And the main point is that he stole my money when he didn't want to refund me and stopped answer emails...

Trust me, I really want the CD to arrive. If, by any chance and God's will, it would happen, I would be more than glad to delete this post and apologize.

Even if he sent it or not, even if the CD would arrive or not, the fact he didn't refund me and he didn't answer me anymore, proves how dishonest he is.

Maybe Techno could give you some advice, he went through some kind of eBay problem i think with someone not sending him an item that he had paid for....??

Not 100% on the facts but he'll point you in the right direction.

Well, this is a story which sounds only too familiar with a certain disbanded forum user. It sounds like I have to repeat myself again but hopefully this time you will have read my post thoroughly instead of skipping it.

To cut a long story short, lets say a buyer from Greece bid on an auction of mine, sent me PAYPAL money, received the item (I sent a tracking number) and got his money returned as he told me the money he used to pay me was paid using a stolen credit card (it was only after the second transaction that I suspect he used a stolen card, not the person who sent him the original funds).

This same person offered me a Go West Japanese sealed promo CD. I paid the money, never got a thing after months of emailing he kept telling me that his contact hadn't returned from his fishing holiday blah blah blah.

So I did some investigating and with the 2 different transactions there were 2 different PAYPAL accounts (both suspended pending further enquiry for months if not years). One was Thanos Paspatis who this person claimed was his contact but why would his contact send me his PAYPAL ID if Zeus himself was doing all the work? Why make a long job of it all?

I later asked about a Thanos and was told exactly the same thing from people in 2 different countries. Basically he was a theif on the loose.

Now because of this (it's not the only time I've been conned), I only accept PAYPAL payments if Insurance is paid along with a signature upon delivery. If on the other hand, I don't receive a package within 3 weeks of paying, I'm straight onto my credit card company and PAYPAL.

I don't do business with Greeks again as Zeus has given them a bad name (no disrespect as few are w*nkers). This Zeus person later admitted that he did stel from me a total of around 400 Euros and he appeared pleased with his efforts. Some people still befriended him.

As a seller, I ALWAYS send items by either Recorded Delivery, Special Delivery or more importantly International Signed For Delivery to those buyers abroad.

This covers both the buyer and the seller.

I recently sold a copy of the Promo 12" to Opportunities (12R6097) to a buyer in Israel (who has made a handful of posts here). It normally takes 10 working days to send something fro UK to Israel.

On Day 8, I recieved notification from Paypal that the item had not been received and would I forward them the proof of postage. I had 3 days to fo so. Knowing how quickly they refund the buyer, I duly obliged and low and behold, the next day, matey is Isreal received the item.

There are a couple of lessons to be learned here.

1. NEVER buy anything outside of ebay (i.e Privately)
2. When buying on ebay, always use Paypal or Credit Card and it does pay to pay for that extra postage insurance. Remember this covers both parties.
3. If in doubt, DONT Buy or bid. Simple as that!

I notice that this seller actually has 99.7% positive feedback but remember this is for purchases through Ebay.

Techno, wasn't there also another story about how you and your friends rigged your Ebay auctions by artificially bidding up the price of the items you were selling, thus scoring extra money from another collector and member here? Or am I misremembering?

I do feel sorry for everyone who's been cheated in Internet trading though (many of us have had our share of it with David Allen aka DacoPSB aka davenjulieuk). We should keep a list of bad traders around here to warn other people from making the same mistakes.

Or was it done as revenge!

No, I just remember it from the big discussion here where Techno first presented his case. If I'm wrong and no such thing was uttered, then I am sorry. I just remember reading it and feeling quite upset about that, and it wasn't contradicted or discussed much further as I recall it. I have no personal issues with Techno, so what kind of revenge would that be about? And I was not the one being set up.

As I recall it, the victim was "Karen" or something? It must have been at Aimoo it was mentioned, but that forum seems to have gone by now?

Techno, any comments?

DJAMIX;- It isnt very nice to learn the hard way like you have but IMO, the best thing to do is find out his address and smack the bastard.

I wish I could do that, but flying overseas to kick his ass costs a lot more than U$250...
