Relase (again) Missed oportunity

#1 Post by Tom Angel »

Is it just me, or is this not the best tracklisting? Just try it. Its annoying. The album would have been better and the reviews would also have reflected the talent.

The Samurai in autumn
Always

I wish people would start to see the beauty of Searching For The Face Of Jesus, rather than Between Two Islands. The first one is a masterpiece, the latter is a tune that goes nowhere. It's easily one of PSB's worst tracks ever.

Only 9 songs? It could open with "Home and dry" to make up a 10-track album.

Also I think "Birthday boy" should have remained on the album - instead of "Between two islands". I agree that is a boring song, and "Searching for the face of Jesus" is better.

Birthday Boy and LIAC should be there anyway.

oops. Yes, 'Home and Dry' to open. Was a bit pissed when I posted. I love 'searching for the face of jesus' too, but am not sure it fits on the album...

Yes, and? :? Me quoting SNF in my sig doesn't necessarily mean that it's one of my favourite PSB tracks. SNF is a milestone better than Between Two Islands, though.

Or perhaps you can convince me what's so brilliant about Between Two Islands? - Until then I will stick to my conclusion that it's a forced sounding track that goes absolutely nowhere. It may in fact be the worst B-side PSB ever made.

wasn't I Didn't Get Where I Am Today recorded later? It doesn't sound quite like the Release stuff. It's an AMAZING song, though.

I would agree that Searching for the Face of Jesus should have been on there, as well as Always and Sexy Northerner.

I would have sequenced it like this:

Home and Dry
London
Always
I Get Along
Birthday Boy
The Samurai in Autumn

Sexy Northerner
E-mail
The Night I Fell In Love
Here
Searching for the Face of Jesus
You choose

I've never liked Love is a Catastrophe.

It was recorded during the Release sessions.

I would pick the following 10 tracks, by the way. (Not because they're necessarily the best ones, but because they can form one consistent album).

Home And Dry
I Get Along
Birthday Boy
London
E-Mail
I Didn't Get Where I Am Today
Love Is A Catastrophe
Searching For The Face Of Jesus
The Night I Fell In Love
You Choose

Wow I'm shocked it wasn't included on Release - it's a very strong song, and would have been an obvious choice as a single in my view.
