Just got back from the NYC Show
Fantastic night. Show started a bit slow (with half the crowd missing during the first 2 songs) but things really picked up by the time Suburbia got going. Same setlist as TO I believe. Highlights for me were: rent, dreaming of the queen, minimal, shopping and flamboyant. S & G show sounded great and that new version of Where the Streets is amazing.

I dunno if it would be crazy house but I guess it will be in a way. In 1999 they did a singing at the exact same store they do today but the siging started at about 7pm the day before the show and it was crazy. I waited about 3 hours for getting something signed. It's interesting but I don't think that it's the best way to meet an artist because they do that for business purposes.
My friend Corey and I just got in from the show. The venue was of course amazing, but I agree it did take time for the show to wind up. Many in the crowd were confused as to whether they should stay seated or dance. This was by far the most visually compelling show since Performance--I just wish they would have used more projections (the Where the streets have no name segment was particularly brilliant).
My two gripes: 1) The tracklist/order was completely odd and didn't flow well. The choice of Psychological to open was very weak. They built the energy up in the first segment with Opportunities and Integeral only to end it with an intermission. They return with Numb, which is great, but then they go into Se a Vida e which is completely a jump in energy/vibe. Then they kept us going for a bit before dropping us with a mellow and beautiful mix of Home and Dry, but then pounced back with Always on my mind. It felt like a yo-yo of energy...
Anyway, my friend and I bolted to Virgin. PSB came out around 15 minutes after midnight. No cameras were really allowed up close; only while waiting in line. Chris literally looked like he was having a nervous break down when everyone started snapping photos. They were only signing Catalogue, PopArt, or Fundamental. Interestingly Virgin handed out a Rhnio Records promo in line called "Exclusive" that had The Resurrectionist, Girls don't cry, and Blue on blue, and people were having those signed too.
The line and process was *very* mechanized and very quick. There was little to no interaction with Neil and Chris, my friend Corey and I felt like cattle moving through a line. They signed my copy of PopArt (had to buy one at Virgin that day so they would sign it)...and I had only enough time to ask my one question:
Me: "Neil, will there be a fourth single from Fundamental?"
Neil: "Well if there is a fourth single, it will be Integral."
AMAZING! All in all a great night and show. Corey and I are headed to the Miami show next on Tuesday...

Turnout was great.
The turnout at the Virgin signing was incredible. I doubt everyone got in. If Remark and I had not left the show during the encore we would have been waiting forever.
I have to say that the Virgin staff were rude and hostile and made the experience less than pleasant. Still it was good to compliment the boys and get a quick autograph.
The show is great but I do agree with Remark's criticism. I am giddy about seeing the show in Orlando as it is standing only thus avoiding the whole do we sit or stand issue that has plagued the shows up until this point. I really think that the first act was slow going because of this issue. Once a majority of people stood up the show really took off. I think that Sodom was great and I wish the drummer would have been used more throughout. The entire encore was amazing and it was fun to turn around and see all of the people dancing in the balconies and glowsticks darting around in the darkness. Definitely a great night.

Hey there guys, just back from the concert and the autograph signing at Virgin -- here's my take on everything:
AMAZING SHOW!!! The songs, the sound, the set, etc... LOVED IT ALL! Well, I wasn't thrilled with how "So Hard" was done and I also didn't love how at the very end of "Go West", when Neil and Chris were already off the stage, the back-up singers were singing all the titles of the songs from the night, it was kinda bizarre...
My main negative comment is that I think Radio City Music Hall was not the best place to have the show. It was pretty much at capacity, around 6000 seats, but who are most of these people? The whole front of the venue stayed seated almost the entire show (well, not me and my friends and others around us), even more than what I heard about Montreal and Toronto, and Neil finally had to motion for the people up front (snobby people who probably used connections or whatever to get first row who didn't know any songs except West End Girls") to stand up. I mean, it's kind of ridiculous to be hearing -- and feeling -- this pulsating, throbbing synth music and seeing so many people seated!!!!
My friend Steve and I went to the signing and that was great -- we were determined to ask interesting questions, not just "I love you guys" or "the show was great", -- even though, as mentioned in a previous post, they rushed us along. So steve asked about "IN DENIAL" appearing in "Showgirl Homecoming" (Neil said something like "I think so, I don't see why not ) and I asked two questions and even though security was rushing us through, Neil really took the time to answer me and was still answering me when he was signing the stuff of the people behind me!! I asked about my favorite unreleased track, "You've Got to Start Somewhere", which Neil had to think about for a minute before remembering it (!!!) and then said that he liked the melody but was unsatisfied with the lyrics, so it won't be released anytime soon until they re-work it. Then I asked if we can expect a "NIGHTLIFE/FURTHER LISTENING" sometime and he said they have so much on their plate now with the tour and other releases so they're looking at that for next year.
Oh, they signed my gorgeous new PSB "CATALOGUE" book!! WHAT A GREAT NIGHT!!!

Just got back from the show myself. I went to Park later to meet up with friends so it took me a while to get home. The show was awesome! I thought the Nightlife show was their best but this show definitely takes the cake! The signing was good, although as someone mentioned, we felt like cattle. I remember the signing years ago at Tower Records in Hollywood during Nightlife, and it was much more pleasant and laid back. I had Neil write my name on the PopArt booklet, and since "Debesh" isn't a common name, it took him a while to get it. Chris, on the other hand pronounced it perfectly and gave Neil this "Ha, see I can say it!" look. Neil apologized and said he was a bit tired, and I said that's not a problem. I thanked them for great show and for playing Heart, which is my fave. He replied that he enjoyed performing it! Truly, these lads are quintessential gentlemen. Its nice to see that hasn't changed since the last signing that I went to. Great night all around!

haven't been to one. I only saw signings on some
photos ('Nightlife' and 'PopArt' era for instance).
I could well imagine that this is going rather quick
and you might feel like 'cattle' or something ...

I couldn't make the signing, but the concert was excellent, even from the nosebleeds. I'm pretty sure the set list was identical to those posted from canada.
There did seem to be a lot of bored wives and casual concert hoppers there, but still enough fans to make it energetic.
Radio City sucked tho, intermission was chaos, sending all the smokers out one door, having to pass the concessions and merchandise lines.
As far as the non fans I was surrounded by, Integral got a very positive response.

Great show. I agree that it was a very mixed crowd, a lot of people in our section (up front, to the left), looked like they could be at any show, as they sat there with their drinks.....But it was great to see that PSB finally managed to get most people standing up, and then it felt like being at a big party!
I also went to the signing - Neil looked fabulous, Chris a bit annoyed (.....!). It's true that we were really rushed through, but I did manage to say my line to Neil: "You wouldn't normally do this kind of thing, would you?", to which he smiled and replied, "No, certainly not at this time of night". Then I added, "You're an inspiration", and that was it.
It was a perfect end to the day where I finally got to see PSB in NYC, and so glamourous to see them at such a classic venue.
