PSB and movie soundtrack

I really havent heard their music on soundtracks, is that a deliberate choice of theirs..to not overexpose their songs or isnt anyone interested ?

How does soundtracks work though, it is a choice of the producers/music director, who then get in touch with the artists ?

I've always thought, thats what they need. to get one of their songs in a key scene in some teen movie or animated feature.

you know some uplifting song about friendship or somethin. I think that would be a cant miss hit.

A Italy movie released at the end of 1999 used I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more in its soundtrack: there is the intro and the first line 'til the refrain.

I don't know that it's a deliberate choice on their part, but rather that they just don't get asked. In the latest Literally they bemoan the fact that none of their songs are ever used in films, whilst Rufus just about gets a song in a movie every week. I remember reading (again probably in Literally) that they were asked to write some music for the movie "Death Becomes Her" (with Meryl Streep) but turned it down....thankfully because it was a terrible movie. Their work on The Crying Game was excellent though. I'm a bit surprised they haven't been asked to do more movie projects, especially since Potemkin has been critically well received.

The italian title is Vacanze di Natale 2000, in English it could be something like Christmas Holiday 2000. It's a serial of films that every year has a new chapter in the cinemas released in some different locations (exists a Christmas In New York, Christmas In India and so on...) The first chapters were nice but year after year they are become impossible to see

Maybe the producers did not ask the opinion at PSB to use it but only to EMI Italia.

Well West End Girls was due to be in Donnie Darko until they priced themselves out of it...

West End Girls is been used in a Simpson's episode and Always On My Mind in Cold Case serial even if these are not movies.

Was'nt It's a sin used in Party monster, but it was'nt on the soundtrack.

I recall reading somewhere that neil said the fee for songs the movie producers have to pay is really high for their songs.

We also got BYT for the same movie but it was'nt used.

There is an interesting discussion about this in the new issue of Literally. Neil says he doesn't understand why they don't get their songs in movies whereas people like Rufus W. get songs in movies all the time. They also discuss that maybe doing Potemkin in L.A. could raise their profile in the movie industry. Maybe that's what they are doing in September in Hollywood?

actually i dont even want them to score something new, i mean look at the devil wears prada soundtrack or something, an Always on my mind would have happily co-existed there. Or an Integral in 'V for Vendatta' its simple exposures like that, which could give them some attention.

Theyve been in the industry for ages, surely they have a network ?

Didn't they get asked to do a James Bond track years ago but declined, or they produced one and it got declined? I can't remember which way round it was.

It was declined by the same people who asked them, if I remember well, and that song turned to be "this must be the place I waited years to leave".
