Thanks joepsb. I managed to join the programme at the Domino Dancing video & interview. (What videos/interviews had i missed up until then?). The rest of the programme was "Classic". I've watched countless "Greatest Hits" programmes for different singers & groups on VH1 & VH1 Classic & all they have shown are the videos that you have seen time & time again....but with Pet Shop Boys nothing is that straight forward. Neil & Chris have put in their usual input into this to make it more interesting & to make it so you are not just watching excerpts from PopArt The Videos. Strange selection of songs but they only had 60minutes. And the things you learn.
I never knew they were rowing on the lake in Battersea Park for the video of Can You Forgive Her?
How many times have we heard of the production of Go West ? But this new interview made it sound like a brand new story...very funny!
I never knew Before was one of Chris' favourite songs.
And apparently if Numb had been released as a single the Monday after being shown at Englands World Cup exit it would have been Number 1...do you believe that ?

A great programme...a true "CLASSIC".

Is that actually true? it would have taken a lot of downloads.

I doubt it, unfortunately.

Actually, Neil said these very words during an interview for the Numb Video " If it had been released the Monday after being shown on the BBC's coverage of England's World Cup exit, it would have been Number 1".

I dunno about 1... but it would have certainly improved the chart position quite a lot.

Maybe PSB should release their next record ext June then, to coincide with the inevitable quarter final defeat on penalties. Or, their final European qualifier, with the ways thing are going.

Numb wouldn't have been anywhere near number one. The download websites still had charts last summer that told you how a song was doing. On i-tunes, i think it was around number 70.

I think PSB should perhaps learn to understand that most of their records are bought by loyal fans. And these loyal fans TEND to like Tennant/Lowe-compositions better than songs written by other people. Numb is not a bad song, but I cannot help pointing out once more that the single-edit was simply horrible.

No way Numb would have reached #1 if it had been released the day after England was kicked out of the World Championship. Not only because the song simply isn't strong enough, also because it's attached to a negative moment for England, rather than a positive one.

As much as I love Neil, how could he possibly know this...
"Enjoy it while it lasts ... "

It was suggested to him in an interview with The Word not so long ago.
