Date of birth compulsory?

Date of birth compulsory?

I have just tried to update my profile and found that date of birth is now compulsory. I don't want my full date of birth displayed on my profile because of the security and privacy implications of this. Is there any way to hide one's D.O.B.? Also, must posters' ages be displayed under their avatars? Can this not just be left to personal preference?

I'm afraid theres no escape from this compulsory :-)
A wrong date is the best solution in my eyes! Although I don't think you would divulge anything intimate from yourself
