THE WAR YOU DON'T SEE
THE WAR YOU DON'T SEE
Strictly off-topic, I know, but I implore people to see this film (screened on ITV tonight and currently showing at cinemas) by our greatest journalist, John Pilger. It's the best thing he's done, and of course, in line with all controversial, serious television, it has been buried in the schedules, so most people won't see it...
Apologies for dumping an off-topic opinion on this forum, I know it's not the done thing but you only live once.

Yeah it was pretty damning, particularly of the media in this country. I applied to the BBC Journalism Scheme this year and it doesn't surprise me that it's full of pusillanimous lickspittles because the application process is as wanky as any other bland corporate organisation. I'm still in shock at seeing a decent programme on ITV.

Well, that's exactly the point isn't it.BrilliantPSB wrote:what about the off-topic forum ?

people like that should put as much effort into the crimes of muslim terrorists or north korea which is the true hidden crimes against humanity.but then again, no journalist wants to start out his day with a fatwa.
HERES a genuis.not a polished journalist playing it safe with the war what is it good for the media are involved blah blah blah.

Looks like the usual Lib drivel ... and as usual, liberals are responsible for massively more human suffering than any wars waged by "the west". Everything they touch turns to sh** like the Vietnam war, the DDT ban etc etc etc.

Really? In what way? Have you any evidence? Thought the Vietnam war and the failure of the US forces was the fault of the US government. Must be living in an alternative universe.NJTom wrote:Looks like the usual Lib drivel ... and as usual, liberals are responsible for massively more human suffering than any wars waged by "the west". Haven't seen the doc but it's not a big stretch of the imagination to see how the media don't give us all the facts. Even know we're constantly bombarded with images of brave soldiers who died for this country, or 'heroes' as they are called now, at the expense of thousands upon thousands of brave but very dead Iraqi/Afghan women and children that rarely get reported about.

Re: THE WAR YOU DON'T SEE
nobody cares for the same reason nobody would care about a documentary about the firebombing of dresden where "thouands and thousands of brave but very dead" german women and children died.
liberals turn rational thought inside out. with them, the sympathy is with the people of the sick ideology.not with those fighting it. muslim extremists, nazism, japan, etc etc thier focus lies with the civilians and mutes the actions of the extremists living within them .
but make no mistake, they dont care for these brave women. they are only chess pieces for their documentary.
does any rational person think any of these pro-gay liberals actually care about people within a muslim culture whose whoe being is intolerance of this and that? BLAH.

Re: THE WAR YOU DON'T SEE
There have been plenty of documentaries about the bombing of Dresden; there are whole channels dedicated to the Second World War ffs. This documentary was not simply about Iraq or Afghanistan but charted the growth of propaganda from the First World War onwards, and how the likes of Kissinger bombed Cambodia simply because it was convenient (lest we forget Kissinger sabotaged the Vietnamese peace talks so that he could get into office but hey, see you on Centre Court next year, you mass-murdering maggot).glennjridge wrote:nobody cares for the same reason nobody would care about a documentary about the firebombing of dresden where "thouands and thousands of brave but very dead" german women and children died.

Ask yourself why the US or UK aren't fighting in Zimbabwe or Burma if they're so concerned about the cause of democracy? Not many fat contracts for the arms traders and oil barons.

Re: THE WAR YOU DON'T SEE
those WW2 documentarys they just document a relevant historical events no different then why they covered say, the battle of the bulge or pearl harbor.
they dont make judgements of the acting partys.
these recent documentarys supposedly giving a inside scoop on propaganda are in themselves propaganda.a judgement based on anti-americanism not some need to be fair. the proof is, they never seem to deal with propaganda of the biggest offenders, muslim countrys, russia, north korea.such offenders...they dont allow gee... say... embedded jounalists or foriegn field reports . apparntly this doesnt stike any curiosity from the soft...girly ...excuses for men we have for journalists today who create these docu failures for a tiny minority from what I can tell.
where was the money in sending american troops to die in vietnam? korea? panama somolia?
paying off north korea to shut up for years? giving million in aid to the black hole that is africa?
if the US was guilty of everything these weak armchair editing in their apartment journalists said we were, we would rule the world.

Erm, do you really think that the military-industrial complex actually cares about a few thousand dead grunts? How naive.glennjridge wrote:where was the money in sending american troops to die in vietnam?
